The best time to update hunting gear?

Hey thanks for that information. Been looking at the Winchesters in either 416 or 375. Not sure if they would require the same amount of work, but definitely a resource I will keep in mind.

The best time to update hunting gear?

I have noticed that a lot of people who buy CZs send them to AHR. What work are you having done to them there?

The best time to update hunting gear?

My wish list continues to grow. I am looking at a new Leupold vx5-hd for my favorite rifle along with either a 416 rigby or 375 H&H. Probably going to end up with the 375.

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

I actually checked out Game 4 Africa's website rather extensively over the last few days. Lots of hunting reports on AH. Also, KMG is really high on my list. The forum has been a wealth of knowledge and honestly overwhelming at times to read through all of the posts

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

Yes exactly right on DG, just had a very lengthy conversation with my wife about how I will prioritize free range hunting when going after a buf and leopard. Thank you for solidifying my opinion.

I really appreciate this feedback. Also, what is your "go to" PG rifle set-up?

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

Good to hear, sounds like a trip to Dallas is in my future! Hopefully after the Covid situation settles down there will be plenty of opportunity for some meet and greet at the shows.

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

Back to the main subject, what other resources other than this forum(which is helpful) is everyone using to narrow down the field of potential PG hunting destinations and outfitters?

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

I am really starting to focus references. How do you prioritize your hunts? Do you focus on a specific species, location, or PH?

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

I am more interested in knowing how others research for their next hunt. I am also curious what other hunters view as priorities.

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

Just wanting to throw a question out there for the more experienced hunters out there. How do you eventually choose where you will be hunting for your next PG safari? Do you base it off of trophy quality? If so, what resources are you using? Is it more based on your relationship with a PH or...

    Hello from Colorado!

If you have an influx of hunters due to rescheduled trips and new bookings you deplete the population of trophy animals. Again, it is my cynical theory.

    Hello from Colorado!

Glad to have you as a member. I had been planning my first trip as well. Traded off one of my rifles to get a .308 just for plains game. My opinion is that 2020 is a wash and there will be a huge spike in hunts for 2021. That will probably not be great for many hunters that haven't booked like...

The howling: Americans let it out

I raised hogs and cattle with my grandfather. He was a Korean Marine vet. I lived with him when I was young. He would get his rifle out and wait to see their eyes gleam from our security light and shoot them in the barn lot. Creepy seeing all of those eyes pop up with you yip a couple of times...

A picture is worth a thousand words

I have a LG G6. The phone itself is in rough shape as I am not a great steward of my phone and I truly believe that cell phone companies rip off consumers. Probably a wildly different opinion than most 29 year olds. I am really in the market for a decent camera in the $500 price range.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Yeah I have done that in the past. I am under the assumption that a dedicated camera is going to take much better video and pictures than my cell phone.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Everyone knows that our pictures are invaluable from hunting trips. I keep 100s of pictures from previous fishing trips on a spare hard drive along with family photos. Sadly, many of my fishing pictures were taken with my cell phone. I am wanting to upgrade and purchase a real camera to start...

    Which caliber to keep?

I completely agree. I sold my 300WM for a 308 and I am looking at getting a 375HH. Don't see a need for any other hunting rifles. Those 2 calibers IMO are all a hunter would need. Sure a .22, muzzelloader, and shotguns are necessary too.

    Snakes!

JB I keep my late grandfather's old corn knife (looks like the knife Jason used in the movies with a duct tape handle) in my truck specifically to kill snakes. Can't stand them.

    New trophy room

Must say that the moose looks exceptional and have already told the wife that I am jealous of that whitetail pedestal with the snow on the antlers! A lifetime of great memories and trophies in that room. I'm also a big fan of that waterbuck pedestal as well.

    The Dream Safari

Noticing that bongo and elephant hunting does not show up as much as I originally thought it may. I believe a lot of hunters are really looking at prices and importation now that laws are cracking down on certain species into the US.

    The Dream Safari

I have started to notice a theme around a lot of hunters that Tanzania is still considered the epitome of hunting. Excellent choices on your rifles by the way! I thought about looking at a .338 for a plains game hunt, but have chosen to save my money for a .375 H&H for the variety.

I completely forgot about the Tanz gazelles! Great hunts, I hope one day to hunt lion (very far in the future) I would really want the mount at home and not sure when/if that will ever be very possible in the future. I also would have to find space for it at home! Not sure the wife would be...
