Do you think it tumbled and expanded from the rear?
It’s plenty for my 375 but it has good neck tension. A bullet with a crimp groove can use more than 1/4 turn.
If you are using the lee die, I turn it in until I can’t wiggle the bullet anymore( in the die not the case) then give another 1/8 or 1/4 turn. If...
Reload from the belt, or between the fingers.
I’ll probably try both. Gotta love QD rings.
My BRNO will hold six, 5 down and one up the pipe. No reloading required. However I will use my Winchester which holds 4. I’ll have a friend time...
I’m looking for something better than my leupold vx2 for my 30-06. I like 3x9 and 2x7 size scopes
Darn I was too late twice!
Yes. The brass can be formed from 30-06 but it’s so easy to get o don’t know why you would. Think of it as a 30-06 necked up to .366
You may want to consider the 9.3 62 Mauser.
I just bid on a model 70 classic 30-06 that I don’t need. If I win this may happen to it.
What brand of cartridges did you acquire @Captain Nwz I certainly love my model 70 375 H&H and you will like yours I’m sure.
Are you using factory ammo or reloading? Honestly I’ve never had any ammo that didn’t shoot within 3 inches of my scope once I got it zeroed at...
I enjoyed it Major Khan, I think the story of the tiger who nearly got away sounds good.
I hope you and Mr. Rahman have a good visit.
With my 1958 model 70 30-06, I get 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards with most any ammunition. With my reloads I can get it a little bit better, but...
As cool as that 400 H&H is, I’m with @TOBY458 the Rem mag should work just as well. Not to mention available of ammo, brass, and 416 bullets are...
I like that rifle. I have one similar, though mine was built for Chile, it’s a 98 Mauser carbine with a bent down bolt handle. It has been left...
I watched that back when it first came out. There are some real jokers, one kid had a baseball bat with nails in it for a weapon.
Excellent reading so far Major Khan, I look forward to the rest.
I didn’t see your ad. But I wasn’t in the market for one. I hit the bid button by impulse. Mine might be for sale on this site later, I don’t know.
I just picked up a Zeiss v4 1-4 form euro optics for half price. It may go on my FAL or maybe my muzzle loader.
Why not 375? Then you’d be covered for anything. 338 is a great round, but 375 can do a little more.
Winchester model 70 pre 64 or classic CRF
I like Speer hot cores. Good cup and gore bullets.
Great job Toby, when does the catalog for your gun auction come out?:)
If you want to go heavier than 250 you may want to look at the 275grain swift A frame
Thanks BRICKBURN but I would hate to confuse anyone by thinking I was a different person, and I don’t really mind it being my real name.
I have been a member of this fantastic forum for less than a year, but during Von Gruff’s safari knife giveaway, and Rance Safaris hunt giveaway...
I’m sure that was a hard story to tell, Major. Like all dangerous jobs, sometimes bad things will happen, and I am very glad he survived. I am...
Everyone should know my avatar picture. I used it because it’s my favorite picture, and I will never get tired of seeing it. My name is my real...
Everybody loves a meat doe. Nice rifle.
I love mine! Yeah standard shell holders.
Welcome to AH
@nsingh Can you tell us about yourself? Where you have hunted what you enjoy doing where you are from?
Welcome to Africa Hunting
Has the gunsmith finished mounting the scope? Be sure to show us when it’s done.
The leupolds work as they should I just didn’t like them.
I had a set and hated them. Talley QD rings and bases are great, if you switch you will like them better.
I think everyone would enjoy that.
I would love to have anything that beats the name John Rigby. That being said if was looking for an open sight light rifle I would look no further...
Fascinating! The experience you have is remarkable, and I would guess only a few living men have more.
I’ll probably just shoot the sights for a while to see how I like it. Those rings came with rifle and are 1”, the scope I have planned for if...
I picked up the rifle yesterday, it’s in very good shape. The bolt is a little rough, but I will break it in. I actually like the backwards...
Good story, I’m glad it worked out to where your aunt and uncle understood why you did it. It would have been hard to keep hunting if they didn’t...
308 Norma mag?
If want a new rifle, and have the 7mm already, I would go for a 338 or 375.
