I don't pimp my site here, I felt it was a bit disrespectful to the owners but then again I didn't start this thread and I'm a huge proponent of the right gear when you have it with you is better than a house ful of crap you left at home
Roger that Phil
I have a pre war M70 in 30-06 which kicks my teeth out, and the new M70 which has a diferent designed stock is a pussy cat. Not saying if I dont pay attention it wont hurt me, but I much prefer the 375
Im having a 35 Whelen built on another pre war action with the same stock...
Yes I forgot the range. First Elk was at about 100 yds, second was around 160-175
My hunting bud and I decided to use the 375 this year and they both dropped literally like hit with a hammer
Im trying to get pics from my hard drive to this site, but they are a little bloody and I try not to...
I think weight depends on perspective...
I carried an M47 Dragon-37lbs
A PRC 77-17lbs
An M60-23 lbs
So a 10-11 lb rifle is not a huge deal for me and I prefer a rifle I enjoy shooting. I shoot mine a lot, fired 30 rounds off the bench, no sled zeroing because I didnt sleep for 36 hours and...
My opinion only here
I have a Mod 70 Safari I purchased last spring and if I werent divorced already I would be now because I love firing this rifle.
It is heavy BUT not overly so. I had no issues carrying it Elk hunting nor hiking with it this summer. A good sling and a load it likes and you...
Hi guys, its been awhile since I posted here but since I blame you all for my new rifle I should let you know how it went Elk hunting
First off, the load. Simple and what was recommended here. Federal Blue Box 270gr soft point.
The Elk- roughly a 425lb spike bull
The result obviously was...
This made me curious so Ive been researching
And so far I cant find a universal solution
I do find every state honors other states Hunter Safety cards, but I have not found the solution for non US resident wanting to hunt here.
You have to consider the situation where a single point sling works and the rifle its attached too. The M4 has a 14 inch barrel, is much lighter than most big game rifles as well as a foot shorter.
The single point works if you never sit down , if you do the rifle which is attached to you...
I bought 2, because everything up until now was lighter than 10lbs and the knowledge base here has more experience with heavier rifles.
I have 1 on my Win mod 70, and the only thing concerning me is the threads on the screw, and wear from carrying the rifle. Has anyone messed up the threads bad...
From working in the Customs field for over 20 years
Keep at least 2 copies of your passport separate from the original, as well as the 4457. A copy of your passport will not let you board an aircraft but it will provide a start for the US consul to issue you a temp document to return home.
When I was considering it, this is the best price I found for American made ammo
Federal Power-Shok .375 H&H Magnum Soft Point 270 Grain Ammo - 20 Rounds/Box
Price / Box: $47.48
If anyone wants a Javelina, don't mind mixes of decent and small sizes, and doesn't mind hunting close to civilization in Az let me know
I literally chase them out of my yard with a stick
And have a decent chance at a male lion let me know. Im in the city limits so its archery gear only, but...
I have 2 Pre-64 Mod 70 in 30-06 and a new Mod 70 Safari in 375 HH.
Im having one on the 06 restocked to fit me the same as the 375, and that is all I have to say about that ( quoting forest gump)
CDI has done 3 rifles for me, all .308 which use the AICS magazine, and also work well with the ruger synthetic magazine as well as I believe the magpul? magazine. I'm not at home so I cant look at magazines but they are no longer $80 each like they were 5 years ago
CDI does good work...
And I meant to add
Always always always make at least 1 copy. We don't keep copies, and thank god for that. It would be a nightmare of paper if we did.
Keep 1 copy with a copy of your passport, 1 copy in the case with the item, usually under the foam and the original with what paperwork you...
I knew Id find an area here I could help with
24 years and counting as first a Customs Inspector now CBP Officer ( that hurts to write) and Ive filled out hundreds of these forms.
So some insight
First it doesn't matter what edition of the form you have. As long as the thing is legible and...
Thank you mods, apparently I had a server issue yesterday when trying to post the article. My apologies for the delay
Edit: Thank you for removing the links, I was just deleting the pics and links to save bandwidth when I tried posting it.
I am not sure of the protocol here with members passing on links to their own web sites but I wrote a post about how to get yourself unlost and rescued on my site
I am a big proponent of aviation band radios, GPS locators and carrying gear that will actually get you out alive vs. the collection...
I have a male, and a female who shows up with kittens fairly regularly at my house in southern az. The male lives behind my house fairly peacefully. I have had a few arms length encounters which got the blood pumping, and I have to say with long association with the cats here...you shot a...
Ok, remember I gave permission to laugh
Has anyone more experienced with the 375HH here than I am ( that would be everyones dog and cat) ever tried cast lead practice loads.
Wide meplat, 250 gr ish at below 2000 fps?
Loads, useful info, alloys, lube, etc for this.
I have a good idea about BP...
I found as more than a few others in my circles the 235 gr 375 is a wonderful load to shoot, my Trauma Nurse GF/ soon to be fiancé loves shooting it and when told about my recent purchase said the only thing missing was her new 375
Im new to the larger bores as well and I selected the Mod 70 Safari. Mostly because I have a close friend who has a Super Grade Ive become addicted to shooting.
Its funny saying Im new to the big bores because I have an 1859 Sharps in 50/70 and a Marlin Guide gun in 45/70, but I consider my new...
I have lusted after an Africa trip for many years, and Alaska as well. Im almost in the position to do it, just need another few years for the finance side to work out.
The 375 is addictive, I always heard it had brutal recoil but years of qualifying with a 12 Ga 00 buck and slugs...
Im a recent follower of this forum
I bought a 375 H&H after years of shooting a friends rifle. I got hooked and this forum has more information about the practical uses of larger rifle bores than most gun pages.
I drew Elk tags this year, not sure what area yet but needed a new rifle and the...
