    Ethics of blind hunting?

Ah, the anti hunters always have some comment about the game not having a chance, but then again they've usually never hunted anything. What they're clueless about is how many times the hunter might go out and come home without anything but the memories of the day (a good reward in my opinion)...

    Did a little handgun shooting...

They did allow us to spend an hour or so shooting steel on the range after the class so I guess that made up for everything else. That was back in the olden days when ammo was cheap and plentiful. Actually it's been about 12 years now.

    Too busy

I suspect most of us who have reached the land beyond 65 have moments where we look back and think, "what the hell"? I have those moments when I think about the things I didn't do. Usually nothing to do with making money, more time with the kids before they all scattered, spending time exploring...

    Did a little handgun shooting...

When I shot the course for my CCW the instructor made it clear that anyone doing head shots automatically flunked the course. They wanted everyone to concentrate on COM obviously the larger target.

Unwelcome news: Ammo Supply Unlikely to Return to Normal Anytime Soon

As soon as ammo hits the shelves it's gone so demand is there, although some of it is reminiscent of the great TP shortage of 2020. So until that sort of panic buying is gone there's not going to be any catching up.

What the international energy agency has planned for us all.....

As a photographer I have an aesthetic problem with both wind and solar, because they are ugly. Additionally, I looked at some of the wind power leases and they specifically had clauses in there about shooting/hunting near towers. Not sure about solar but they completely cover the area so no...

What the international energy agency has planned for us all.....

I don't think the oil companies are the problem when it comes to nuclear power, the greenie culture is. For many environmentalist groups using nuclear power to just produce electricity is verboden, to actually power anything else would give them complete heart failure. There's no way they'll...

Be honest, your country couldn't defend itself against almost any of it's neighbors, and war crimes, please, I don't think the US needs a lecture from Germany on war crimes. I for one would be glad to see the majority of our people pulled out of Germany. Poland seems happy enough to have a US...

    Future of safari travelling?

One only has to look at the price of lumber, the rising price of oil and the upswing in the price of ag commodities to see we're headed down the inflation turnpike. I've been on this road before and it ended badly. The fact that the current administration is a clown show doesn't serve to make...

    Future of safari travelling?

I would like to go visit family in South America unfortunately at the moment there are some serious COVID issues there along with political unrest in some countries. I am less worried about COVID in relation to travel and more concerned with price increases. Fuel prices were already on the...

.416 vs .458: Just how tough are Nilgai?

This forum is an interesting place. A discussion of what caliber to use turns into a debate on the “perceived”purity of ranching/farming operations. And the ethics of profiting from introduced game species. Long ago I farmed and raised cattle. If you’ve never done either or both it is a much...

    Anti-Rhino poaching cop fired

I probably am the least knowledgeable person on this board when it comes to Africa but it would appear that successful anti poaching efforts had become a thorn in someone's little money making endeavor. Who is the main buyer for poached Rhino parts????

Britt Longoria's Honor the Hunt Instagram cancelled

What is sad is that someone like her was "censored" mostly likely for photo content while all over on Instagram you can find posts and reels that are nothing short of soft porn. Pretty much tells you where things are/have headed and it isn't up.

    POLITICS NRA files for bankruptcy

Wayne was/is a crook. There's no other way to put it. Membership money went to buy suits, booze, trips etc and not for the defense of the 2nd amendment. I once was a member, no more until Wayne and this B of D are gone.

    Biden Presidential address to congress

With regard to the proposed gun control measures. Many of us on this board benefit from the ability to purchase ammo and firearms online. The Biden administration has said they plan to do away with both. How in the hell does limiting my ability to find some 7x57 ammo or someone else's ability to...

    Biden Presidential address to congress

So many topics mentioned already that I'd like to comment on so I'll attempt to be brief. Biden as President. I think we're seeing the 3rd term of BH Obama (and whoever is/was running him) rather than Joe Biden. Frankly, Joe Biden's never had an original idea in his entire life, Obama never had...

    USPS Incompetence!

In all honesty over the past 30 years of being in a business in which there was a lot of shipping of irreplaceable items I've had more issues with UPS that USPS. There was a time that UPS was just a complete shit show both locally and nationwide. Fortunately the photography lab I was using...

    My Covid vaccination experience

With the first shot of Moderna I had very little reaction. On April 20th I got my second shot. This time within an hour the shoulder was getting really sore (think you went out and shot a heavy recoiling rifle 20 times from the bench sore). I took some tylenol and finished the day out, felt a...

    .600 Nitro Pistol

Sometimes you just have to wonder ..... why? I ran into some guys locally who were out with a 375H&H pistol and wanted me to shoot it. Well I was born but it wasn't yesterday, I politely passed on that, watched one of them shoot it and it was obvious that was a good decision on my part.

    Preferred Shotgun Actions?

I've always hunted pheasant, never developed a like for hunting waterfowl. I started out with a Model 12, 12 gauge I bought from an uncle for $63. I used that shotgun for decades. Then for some reason I bought an 870, that didn't last long, I didn't like anything about that shotgun and it went...

    Rewilding America (your thoughts)

When I was a kid you rarely saw deer in the area around our farm in SW Nebraska. My uncle, who I hunted with until he was 86 told me that when he was a kid (early 30s) you never saw deer, even in the South Platte River bottom ground. There weren't any turkeys either. There were lots of pheasants...

Scopes most used power range / objective

I have a 3x9 on one AR I use for predator hunting, 2.5x10 on another, a couple with 1x4 Leupolds. My No 1 RSI has a 2x7 Redfield and the other has a 2x8 Leupold (with way to fine of a cross hair in it). For shooting offhand I'm usually set at 3 or 4.

Very humbling reading the responses to this thread. I think over the past 7 decades I've mostly collected dust. I've got a lot of interests, hunting probably isn't at the very top anymore although just getting out to shoot is pretty much up there. In 2013 at 63 I decided to take up running...

    Tech and hunting gear

My favorite high tech stuff is cold weather gear. There’s been a huge improvement in that over the past 2 decades. And since I’m kinda old, I like anything that keeps me warmer. I also like to pretend that I can hit steel at fairly long range so I love my rangefinders. I also do a bit of...

    Greetings from Nebraska

Thanks. They are a bit addictive. I got the first a few years back at a gun show. A barely used RSI in 7x57. Then late in 2020 I came upon a unique looking one in a gun shop. The guy who had owned it bought a barreled action back when Ruger sold those and made the stock and forearm. I looked, it...

Greetings from the center of the US where the wind is blowing as usual.
