    Proof barrels

I built a Tikka today with a Proof carbon Sendero 24” 6.5 PRC barrel that weights exactly 2oz more than the factory T3X Lite 300WM Stainless barreled action. If that same barrel in .30 was used it would weigh almost exactly the same. Carbon is a huge advantage in that in the longer magnum...

    Proof barrels

They’ll shoot as well as your Bartleins if chambered and crowned as well as your Bartleins. I’ve got a bunch of both and you should not have any accuracy discrepancy between the two. If you’re looking to drop weight and not sacrifice the performance of a heavier contour barrel, Proof is the...

    Proof barrels

Proof Barrels are excellent, generally speaking. I’ve got a number of them from .22lr thru .338LM and I know they have done them for .50BMG and even the Apache M230 30mm chain gun. I like the weight reduction and fast cooling. I hunt in the mountains and shoot my hunting rifles year round for...

Wow, that is beautiful. Looks like a contender for my next rifle.

Custom CZ550 Safari Magnum, info needed

I talked to Wayne at AHR about restocking it, none of the metal work matches what AHR does.

Custom CZ550 Safari Magnum, info needed

Yeah, it was a good find. I'd really like to know who did the work, it's very well done.

Custom CZ550 Safari Magnum, info needed

I stumbled onto this CZ 550 Safari 375 H&H at my local Cabela's for about what I could get a new one for on Gunbroker (~$1000 US). It has had some work done and seemed like a good deal, so I picked it up. I'm hoping someone recognizes the work, I am curious who did it. I'm only familiar with...

    300 Win Mag options?

It's so broad of a question it's hard to answer. They can go from $400 to $15,000 or more...what is your budget? There are basically unlimited options, and there are excellent rifles at every price in there. Mauser M18 is a fantastic gun for ~$400 from Eurooptic, and they have M12s for ~$875...

    Sauer 404

Yeah, that’s the case with most European hunting rifles, Tikka and Sako are slow across the board also. I rebarreled a number of them to shoot what I want but that isn’t easy with Blaser and impossible for Sauer currently.

    Sauer 404

Sauer 404 Initial Review Disclaimer: I am a huge fan of Blaser, Mauser, and Sauer, and I have a good friend who works in the US office so I am a bit biased. That said, I did pay for the gun and nobody asked me to write a review, I just really like it and wish more people knew about them. I'll...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. As requested, it is a Krieghoff Classic 470NE. I found it for a (relative) song at Dury's guns in San Antonio in 2015. A local guy retired from safaris and consigned a number of guns and some nice glass.

    Sauer 404

I probably wouldn’t check it in the case (which is around $400 for the plastic case). I’d rather use a Pelican or Storm case with how baggage handlers treat stuff. I have the Blaser Pelican for my R8 and a spare barrel that I use for travel, I’m sure something similar for the Sauer could be...

    Sauer 404

I own a 404 Synchro XT as well as a 202, along with an R93 and a number of R8s. If you want a "rotary-bolt Blaser" the 404 is a good choice. My 404 is a 22" 6.5 CM that I got for mountain hunting. The engineering and manufacturing are exceptional, like you'd expect from any product from the...

Namibia most likely; looking at zebra, warthog, kudu and possibly a buffalo. I have a double rifle that is of no use to me here, if we can swing a buffalo hunt I will take it along for that.

Hi everyone, I stumbled across the forum while starting planning for a 2021 trip to Africa. I hunt big game in NA, generally with a bow, and want to try my luck in Africa. I've enjoyed reading the forum and look forward to participating.
