NAMIBIA: A family Vacation With Shona Hunting Safaris

Your welcome! If my memory serves me right, I recall reading a hunting report of your trip a few years back.... These family trips get more difficult as they get to be young adults and lives of their own. You were wise to take your children when they are young.

Thank You. Yes, it was good value for the dollar spent. My wife really wants to go back with our whole family. So, you see my dilemma. For the same money, go on a buffalo hunt by myself or take the whole family and hunt plains game. I guess the buffalo hunt will have to wait a few years....

NAMIBIA: A family Vacation With Shona Hunting Safaris

Ragman, Greetings and Thank You. I also hunted the Eastern Cape in 2013, so I share your dilemma! To answer your question, I think the Kudu population, in the area we visited, is doing fine. We saw kudu nearly every time we went out and we did see some very fine bulls. Rabies is a cynical thing...

NAMIBIA: A family Vacation With Shona Hunting Safaris

Your welcome! I don't have much advice. I think that family dynamics are different for everyone. Also, it is a lot different traveling with young teenagers vs young adults. Patience is important. Having a PH who understands family dynamics is also important. Perhaps focusing on trophy animals...

Thanks for your kind words. Well.......I asked my wife and she respectfully declined your invitation. I couldn't agree more, that it would be helpful to have spouses offer input on these forums. However, I will have to paraphrase her comments here. The fishing: She enjoyed it, but was content...

NAMIBIA: A family Vacation With Shona Hunting Safaris

Thank You. I want to go back and hunt Eland and Mountain Zebra. I had an amazing stalk on a couple of eland bulls but it didn't quite come together. It feels like an unpaid bill that needs to be looked after.

NAMIBIA: A family Vacation With Shona Hunting Safaris

We would spend the next few days pursuing, springbok, gemsbok and eland with some stalks successful and some not; that is hunting. It was both challenging and rewarding. The stark, sun blasted mountains provided stunning scenery. Checking leopard baits, stalking eland, experiencing a chance...
