Hornady 300gr XTP .430", impact velocity est. 1450 fps. Complete jacket separation. There was an almost imperceptible exit wound caused by some of the lead fragments.

This was fired from a 50 caliber muzzleloader (T/C encore) with 90 grain/volume charge of Hodgdon Triple 7. 50 yard high shoulder shot (the only unobstructed vital shot I had) on a GA whitetail buck. Buck dropped in his tracks and didn't even twitch. Bullet did it's job this time, but I think I'll be looking for alternatives, or using my own hardcast lead.

Agree on using another bullet. XTPs are pistol bullets. Back in my .50 cal BPS days, I used the Barnes 250s on white tails without issues.

@Rimshot
Try the 280gn swift A-FRAME.

Barnes TSX 165 gr. 30-06 Factory Federal. Aprox 2750fps muzzle velocity.
22 inch Ruger #1.
Very hard quartering too shot at 50 yards. Straight through scapula where I assume it shed the petals. Found in back right hip. Heavy Aoudad ram. Dead in 5 seconds.

My last plains game cull hunt in Namibia. 12 animals total up through wildebeest. 7mm Rem Mag, 160 Accubond, 3100fps at the muzzle. Impacts were anywhere from 90 to 150 yards, animals intentionally shot through shoulder for heart shots. These are the only bullets "caught", the rest exited.

@JGRaider
I used the 225gn 35 cal accubond on a frontal shot on a kudu. It penetrated around 5 feet of kudu and retained 74% of its weight. Great performance. I only recovered 2 projectiles, the accubond and a 225gn Woodleigh PPSP.

338 win mag / NP 210 gr

Wild boar (90 kg aprox) runing down hill, at 100 to 120 m, shot placed in the middle…boar was down dead about 50 m

The bullet got him in the midlle (RED CIRCLE), turn and was about to exit fron shloulder (GREEN CIRCLE) to the SAME side!! So is like turn, never see this before

Sometimes, the reason/explanation is well hidden. The bullet mystery paths and anomalies surely can happen.

That bullet picture looks as though it ended up being classical-picture Partition bullet form. The bullet path is an usual one. Interesting.

Was it a direct running away from you shot ? Or more of a broadside shot or angling shot ?
