suggest you show the serial number as a number of us old timers have preferences for specific vintages that are coded by serial number. The date is revealed in the serial number. Different dates have slight differences in design.

After weeks of I'll send the money, I'll send the money and no money I'm listing the rifle back up. for those that asked earlier SN G355579. It is a CRF rifle and built after the bad barrel run.

Perhaps you should post the handle of the non paying buyer so other members dont bother with him should he try to buy something else here.

Weekend bump.......buyer flaked out

I agree. It appears to be well-priced. I don’t suppose you winter in southern AZ and would meet in person for inspection and purchase?
No, unfortunately I’m wintering here where it’s currently a balmy 10F. LOL. I’m not really looking for another .338 right now, but your rifle seems to be in great condition from the photos and is priced very fairly with the scope on it. Just curious as to what was the “bad barrel run”? I hadn’t heard of that before with the Winchesters?

I thought I had it priced more than right!

I was told in the 80's there was a run of bad barrels.... maybe i got bad info?

There were some bad barrels in the 80s and they wouldnt shoot a group to save your life! I ended up with a 270 carbine and a 243 that wouldnt shoot and i sold them off. Buddy that owns gunshop had LOTS of complaints during a stretch in the late 80s...87/88 ish about the Winchesters he sold out of there. Thats why im always hesitant unless they have already been papered and i like to know how they shoot off the shelf basic ammo as well. Ive had/have several others that shoot great but yes it is true for sure, they definitely had a rough go of it with barrel issues for a bit.

If its been shot and checks out as a shooter then buyers are good to go...so buy away on this one!

BUMP for a GOOD Winchester rifle made in the mid to late 80's!

It shoots good, zebra and wildebeest went down hard and fast, one shot each!

Wish you were in Zim. we would like to buy a .338WM for Leopard & Croc to be used by visiting hunters.
