Infections on the Rise, Johannesburg Mayor Dies: Virus Update

When watching news its the same video over and over and over. I do not trust "news" casts of any kind. How much real mayhem is going on? Or are there bad pockets in a vast area? One road or many affected? How many cities are being looted?

All questions I hope will be answered truthfully? And questions I will have first hand knowledge with soon. Hope to see, feel and encounter none of it.

If anything like Zim in 05, news had whole country too dangerous to go. In actual fact never felt threatened while there. Seen bad stuff but not directed at me. Zim citizens of all colors were amazing people. Expecting same in SA. Listen too news and nobody should even enter Surrey Vancouver. Same BS.

Exactly. Forget the hospital, just feeling miserable at camp would suck and take away from hunting time.

That is why I also updated my Typhoid (good for 2 years) and Tetanus (5-10 years) vaccines and I am getting on the Malaria pill regiment 2 days before I leave on the 28th of this month.
 
That mirrors what mine said other day. He is in eastern Cape but hunts whole country. Certain places, areas and jurisdictions are bad but overall Country and hunting areas are still very safe. Now Covid numbers are another issue, they are rising and current issues may/could/will increase case count in another 14 days.

You misunderstand what I said I guess. I am not at all trying to tell people not to get the shot, merely that if they do, they should be happy and content with their decision and not feel the need to browbeat others into following their advice.
If you have the shot great, you are now protected, get on with your life and dont tell others how to live theirs.
Perhaps I used too many words to convey that and confused the issue.

Durban down the southcoast to Hibberdene is very bad, local communities have no taken up arms and are fighting off the criminals themselves.
Many areas in Gauteng are bad especially JHB and Westrand....
Only 2500 military have been deployed to KZN...do the maths.....
Anouncement that 12 main instigators have been identified and will be arrested soon...JM and another Zuma are aparantly 2 of the 12...how that will pan out with their radical followers we will see in the coming days....
Yes EC hunting areas are calm it is Xhosa territory they dont give a shit about the Zulus....
There is some serious issues going down, many businesses shut down, most gunshops are out of ammo(I was in one this afternoon)...
Believe what you want but listed areas are to be avoided...it is bad....

Take covid, some believe it does not exist, some sit on the wire and just wait and see what happens, some refuse the vaccine and believe it is orcastred to kill, some believe the vaccine is ok and will help, each can choose what they want....

What I can assure you SA is bleeding the whole country is, although the main violence is in KZN and Gauteng, it is bad millions of R worth of damage loss of property loss of income loss of life.....

Anybody who sais it is business as usual is an ignorent fool who has no idea what is going on on the ground....

Yes dont believe everything you may see in your 1st world country on the news this is Africa and we are a 3rd world country and there is some serious shit going down at the moment....these riots and violance is worse than the worst we saw in apartheid......

Believe what you want but this is serious and can go south very quuckly especially when they arrest the identified 12.....

We are still safe where we are but geared up and ready to confront this head-on if it comes into our area or neighborhood, we are sick and tired of the lawlessness....no more....
 
Offering an observation from this side of the pond and by looking at the stream of videos being sent by friends, it would seem the Asians (primarily Indian) and multi-racial communities have decided to not sit this one out. That creates a bit different calculus than the early nineties.

There also seems to be a lot of summary justice being appropriately meted out by property and business owners. I suspect the actual rioter casualty count will be a carefully managed number if and when the government gains some semblance of control.

The next major hurdle will be the shortage of basic goods and services. The same brigands who had a can of gasoline or new TV in their hands yesterday will have their hands out within a week.

We steered clear of this virus for 18 months let our guard down and are now paying the price. Yes both my wife and I are vaccinated

Thanks Mark we are on the tail end of this virus but it was a little scary for a bit. The infusion pulled me out of it faster than the rest of the family.
 
Just arrived home yesterday from Namibia via South Africa. Daughter started have medical issues and we left a week early. Problem is getting home to proper medical care. Suddenly you can not go to this or that country because you have been to another. You can’t get medical evacuation unless it’s life or death and only then when a local doctor says there is nothing they can do. In reality they can’t give their local population the care they need and now we add to their healthcare problem as we help a little of the economic problem. It’s a tough call and scary when things go wrong.
