I have a BC moose hunt booked for early October this year and have been watching and eagerly awaiting for the re-opening of the US-Canadian border (while watching the daily news about the porous US-Mexico border). It was hoped that the Canadian border closure order would expire on June 21, but it has now been extended to July 21.

Well that’s not good news. Likewise, I have three hunts booked that got bumped last year to finished out my NA 29. When I started out on this quest, I thought only money and time would be my hurdles besides the actual hunts themselves. I never dreamed Canada would close its borders.

The outfitters I know in Canada are saying the government is working on protocols for reopening in time for hunting season, especially for vaccinated guests. Hope it opens in late July. Keeping fingers crossed.

Yep, got a moose/black bear hunt booked for September. Not sure if it's going to happen as the outfitter needs a few months to get everything ready before the actual hunt.
I've started making a contingency plan to hunt sable & roan in Africa if I can't hunt B.C.

I can assure my American friends that it is not the will of the people with common sense to extend the closure!
Potato Boy and the elite that want the “Great Reset” are the only ones thinking this is a good thing.
Many Canadians enjoy the warm hospitality of our American friends in the winter and we would like to reciprocate and entertain you in the summer.
This is costing both of our tourists industries heavily in losses.
While the woke people are abolishing history, maybe we can forget the war of 1812 and say the USA won and add another row of stars to your flag.
Just a thought!

From what I've heard, read, and talk to friends in the provincial health ministry here in British Columbia ; its on it way shortly. The two main stumbling blocks are from my understanding; a standard response from all provinces ( some are doing better than others on infection and treatment rates) ; and two that AstraZeneca is not recognized by the US medical system as a approved vaccine ( Widely used in Canada).
British Columbia is keen to reopen as tourism is a large part of the local economy. The Provincial politicos and their acolytes are pushing hard for this to happen.

Regards

Pat

I missed a spring black bear hunt with all this mess happening.

My son was to hunt August 2021 Dall’s sheep in the Yukon with me tagging along with an extra guide for a caribou and/or grizzly, if seen. The outfitter is all backed up so we rescheduled to 2023. What a mess.

My 2020 Dall Sheep is rescheduled for 2023. I am hearing that they are looking at a July 31st opening and hopefully it will allow these guys to do some business and get through the backlog.

Our dictator will do anything to keep Canadians ruled, his daily lies flow freely. The worst scary part is a large portion of Canadians believe the crap he says and do not even have half a brain to research the BS. Even my guide friends who have not worked for 2 years are happy with extended restrictions to "keep us safe" from variants and the daily barrage of BS from the media.

When he calls a fall election his disciples will give him 4 more years. I am scared shitless off that and its effects on my life. Confiscation of my property, rules on what we can do and say and laws to make anyone who questions him a case of "National Security" . Its all happening now. Our great reset and border closure are only a small part of the plan.

If and when he opens border it will only be for fully vaccinated pers?? What about others?

On one side i hope the border opens up for the outfitters to get back to business, but on the other side i hope it stays closed as i will be jumping on some of them open opportunities

I hope Canadians remember this fiasco when that idiot is up for re-election!
Well Western Canada will remember. In the last election the Liberals got shut out in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Unfortunately by the time the polls close in Quebec and Ontario it’s all over and it doesn’t matter how we vote out here. We have members on here from Ontario that know what’s what but the Trudeau (Prince Sparkle Socks from Mount Royal) cult in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City all keep voting him in.

Unfortunately the immigrants from 3rd world shit holes that landed in Ontario and are allowed to vote out-number people that have lived Ontario for generations. The people from Ontario that have more than one generation do not believe in Fucking Potato Boy! Please do not label all Ontarian’s with the same brush!

I certainly don’t paint all Ontarians with the same brush as you can see in my post. There are many outside the GTA with common sense. However it is still a fact of life out here that Quebec and Ontario decide who will be Prime Minister. And the current one is following in his father’s footsteps to shut down Western Canada.

I do not personally know anyone who would vote for Trudeau... but obviously they are out there.

hahah I am sitting on a Canadian special right now, Elk, Muley and Black Bear Combo. The condition is that the border remains closed.... I highly doubt it though as it does look like its opening this Summer.
