Due to ingesting too much Blaser KoolAid I have a new in box rifle to sell . I will post here 1st and then place elsewhere. Any questions ,please ask .
It is my understanding this rifle was made in Portugal in about 2013. The dealer I bought it from a couple months ago bought the inventory of another dealer who retired. Definitely a new rifle. $1500 shipped to lower 48 states.

If I hadn't ingested the same Kool-aid, and bought two R8s recently, both in 375 H&H, I wouldn't have sold mine just like this one. These are great rifles, and are the perfect weight (7lbs 12oz) for a 375. Someone will love this rifle!

Y’all be killing me! I have a 375 Ruger and if I weren’t leaving in less than 4 weeks for last year’s Safari I would probably be sending a PM right about now. Beautiful rifle, I’d say it won’t be around by the time I get back in June.

I'm drooling over it right now... I'm just not quite ready to pull the trigger on a new rifle at the moment........... but the temptation is killing me.
This is pretty much exactly the rifle I {think I} want when I do buy.

Somebody needs to scoop this up.

It’s a no regrets deal, you can always get your money out!

If I didn't already have a Safari Express----Damn.

I really should buy this. Ugh.

But first, in light of recent events, we'll need a picture of you balancing the rifle on your left foot 13" off the ground holding todays newspaper in your left hand while holding your right arm straight out from your body with a frown on your face and crossed eyes while standing in the middle of an intersection showing yellow on the traffic light, 8 feet from a skunk with it's tail raised.

Once confirmed legit we can get serious about this. :A Banana:

Ha!

Just so everyone knows, @Rickmt is a good guy and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him. He's confirmed in my book. And that's one a hell of a deal for that rifle.

Congrats on the Blaser.

Looks like you waited too long @Arkansas_Traveler. These are great rifles and I'm sure another will show up soon!

Having had a few iterations of the Winchester Model 70 .375, I think the Alaskan is my favorite.

So many .375s are overweight—by the time they’re scoped they end up 10 plus pounds.

About 15 years ago I stumbled onto a pre 64 Alaskan .375 with Lyman aperture sight. My dad had just bought a CZ 375 (the older version with the Euro hogs back stock) and I remember thinking that the Winchester was so much more lithe and better balanced. Stupidly I traded that rifle off. In subsequent years I bought another pre 64 M70 in .375. It handled differently than I remembered and I couldn’t figure out why until I researched and learned that the first one I had was an Alaskan with a longer more tapered barrel.

Comparing the Safari Express and the Alaskan, I think the Alaskan more closely replicates the British magazine rifle in overall proportions with its longer, lighter contour barrel. To illustrate this, take a look at the Rigby and Westley Richards rifles in this thread—these are lighter caliber rifles but the geometry stays the same.

These new Portugal assembled/made guns are well put together and a great deal.

Story of my life!

It's all good though - thanks to your help I know where to find a couple great rifles locally, and also thanks to your help the Ruger Safari Magnums have recently moved up alongside the Winchesters in my "want / need" list. :A Way To Go:

I'm sure I'll be able to catch a deal either on here or locally when I get ready to "pull the trigger" on one.

@Vagrouser, congratulations on the purchase!
For what it's worth, I agree with your assessment on the overall proportions on the Alaskan vs. the Safari Express. In my opinion the only things the Alaskan needed to make it perfect were a barrel band sling stud instead of the forend stud, and a 3-leaf express rear sight. With those additions / changes, it would be absolute perfection - again, in my opinion. (And I'm always open to being persuaded otherwise!)

And I love the fact that the Alaskan is available in the 375 H&H and 30-06 in matching rifles, both with 25" barrels. What a fun pair of rifles that could be. Almost identical trajectory between a 200 grain 30-06 and a 300 grain 375 H&H out to 300 yards = perfect pairing (in my mind).
