Here, Gold Coast, 1905.

“Logan Village was in a state of excitement this morning when it became known that the alligator scare was not of a trifling nature, as the saurian had really been caught,” the Brisbane Courier quoted a local resident.

Edit: I find it odd that nowadays they say “crocodiles don’t naturally occur below the Mary River” but there’s historical evidence of them being found as far south as northern NSW. Let em roam and do their thing IMO.

The one I posted above was 3.83m, Logan river in 1905
But yours was an Alligator by the papers, you can’t trust the press.

Shot with a shotgun from the local pubs verandah according to a news paper cutting from the day. Said to be 15'. If memory serves the photo of the newspaper cutting was in the Yatla Pie Shop.

I lived at Logan village years ago
Used to buzz the Logan River
Build a house at the top of Edens Landing overlooking the river

And parents lived not far from Yatala pie shop at the retirement village
After my father passed away from leukaemia my mother went to the Bolton Clarke nursing home at Waterford until her death in august last year

Matt Wright the crocodile hunter in the Norther Territory with his latest catch.
He relocates problem croc’s. Matt said the crocodile, affectionately dubbed Rex by his fans, was 5.1metres (16.7 feet) long despite missing a huge chunk of its tail.
“Just another day in Australia...catching the local dinosaur who’s been eating the cattle and moving him on to somewhere else.”

How on earth do you move one that size around? It must weigh a couple of tons!

From wikipedia...

Among Normanton's most notable features is a statue of an 8.64-metre (28.3 ft) long saltwater crocodile named Krys, the largest ever taken, which was shot by Krystina Pawlowska in July 1957 in the Norman River. "The Big Barramundi", which is 6 metres (20 ft) long, is also located in the town.

I've stood next to this statue on my way to a fishing holiday in Karumba... it's one big croc!

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
