those old unertyls had very good optics.
it goes with the rifle well.
i dare not suggest rechambering it to 280 rem :Wideyed:

That is quite a nice set up, an absolute classic! I also see, either by design or coincidence, the turrets are forward and well out of the way of the port- excellent feature.

Beauty!

Nice rifle and thanks for sharing!

A pre 64 in that caliber is a rare find, especially a SG I should think. To rechamber would be a serious financial mistake, rifle is worth thousands as is.

Indeed, that rifle is worth a fortune. You have no idea what that rifle is worth. Probably worth the equivalent of 8 identical rifles in 30-06 of the same year and configuration.

Value of a 7x57 SG pre-64 has to be somewhere between $6000-$35,000. I'd have to check Roger Rule's book and find out how many were made. Probably as many as tens of them or as few as less than a dozen.

A top of the line classic which would be very hard to improve on.

oh yeah, that's like gold..in every respect, great caliber, post war not pre 64, has the calaflower tang, short 3 pos. safety on right side, proper wood and floorplate, all is correct so its as old as they get, prior to that one was the mod 54...and best of all is the 7x57 caliber, both from a collector standpoint and its a great big game caliber, Ive shoot most everything in Africa and the USA with that caliber short of elephant, Hippo and Lion. Congratulations you hit the jackpot.

Gentlemen of the Africa Hunting forum I introduce 264(aka Mick); he will be surprising many of you with different rifles in the future and I assure you his attention to detail when it comes to rifles is a passion.

If I'm not mistaken; that is the Super Grade I shipped sling swivels for - Super Grade swivels, because only period true pre 64 Super Grade Swivels would do that rifle justice.... & I 100% agreed
