Just found this site and I need advice. I haven't hunted in Africa for over 30 years, so the trip I'm planning is similar to a first timer. I'm 62 and limp heavily, but have the ability to walk all day. I've found a couple of hunting camps that cater to disabled hunters (i.e. East Cape Plains Game Safaris) , but if anyone has experience with similar hunting camps, I'd love to have your opinion! Also, I plan on taking my browning x-bolt long rifle (300 win mag), and 200 grain soft tips. Suggestions or warnings about this will also be appreciated.

Welcome! I find most of the hunting in RSA, Nam and Zim to be fairly flat ground or gentle slopes, so the walking is pretty easy. For a great eastern cape experience, I can recommend AH sponsor @Game 4 Africa Safaris. Hunted with them twice and will hunt with them again. Your 300 WM is perfect for PG, however if you want to not have the hassle of bringing a gun, Wik has some really nice rifles to rent.

Several other great options with other AH sponsors too.

Welcome. As 375 Ruger Fan stated, most of Southern Africa is fairly easy to walk. Before booking, talk to the outfitter and let them know your limitations and ask if they can accommodate.
Your choice of firearms is excellent. Choose a good 200 gr bullet (Barnes, Swift, Troohy Bonded and a few others)
 
I think 95% of outfitters who focus on plains game safaris in South Africa and Namibia would be able to easily accommodate you and give you a good hunt. Most of the stories of walking all day (with exception to dangerous game and eland) are hugely exaggerated. Most hunting is done from vehicle with a several hundred yard (or less) stalk on foot. You miss opportunities on too many animals by chasing one of foot all day instead of driving around searching for more in these countries. However you may want to consider a flatter area to know it will be easier on you if you should have to walk far or chase a wounded animal, areas that come to mind are central Namibia, free state, parts of Limpopo. I hunted eastern cape this year and really enjoyed the landscape and hunt but it consisted of valleys and mountains and we did get out and walk a lot. You’ll find lots of good hunt reports and outfitter recommendations on here to help you decide.

Dave, welcome to the AH forum! I’m certain some outfitter’s will be on here soon with suggestions.
I highly agree with Meigsbucks on the 300 WM and use of quality bullets. You’ll do fine!

The Northern Cape/Great Karoo area is relatively flat so that would be one area to check for outfitters. The shots range from 100 to 300 yards so your choice of cartridge would be more than adequate. Have fun with your research.

I hunted the East Cape with Kubusi Safaris, in 2017 after having a hip replacement in 2016, and again in 2018. Had excellent hunts and an overall really fun time with the PH's there.

There are a limited number of clients at any one time. Food and lodging is excellent. I had my taxidermy done by the taxidermists there and they did a great job.

I agree with Meigsbuck and Ridgewalker your 300WM is a good choice. I used a 30-06 for my first 2 trips for plains game.

Most of the outfitters here can accommodate your physical issue easily and still provide a meaningful hunting experience. As others have suggested, Namibia would be a great choice and perhaps different from your first experience. I can highly recommend Jamy Traut https://jamyhunts.com/ Nick Nolte https://nicknoltehunting.com/ and Khomas has an excellent reputation https://khomas-highland-hunting.com/. In South Africa, Phillip Bronkhorst http://www.pbsafaris.com/ would put together a great experience for you. There are quite a few other excellent options in both countries.
 
Welcome aboard Dave. I am much more physically challenged than you are. The post by 375Fox pretty much hits the nail on the head. Just make sure that your outfitter and PH are aware of your concerns and they will render them moot. Get lots of practice shooting off sticks and "bone-up" on shot placement. Putting your first shot where it belongs will limit "chases" that might prove challenging. BTW I agree that 200 Gn. premium bullets like the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw and or Swift A Frames are the way to go. The "search" feature on AH is your best friend. There is tons in information available. If you can't find what you are looking for just ask and we'll be glad to help you out.
