The old carpet again..

Well here is where I found your X1 for $240
https://www.bladehq.com/item--Fallkniven-S1X-Fixed-Blade-Knife--101540
The coated model is more expensive it cost $280 from the same place.

I don't have an issue with the performance of you knife but it does have some features I don't prefer but those are personal preferences. If you had gone with a F1 I never would have never questioned it, Fallkniven make some of the highest quality production made stainless steel knifes on the planet, my issue is the price.

When I first saw your knife I thought wow that's a good looking knife I'll go check that out on the web, when I saw the price I had sticker shock. At the end of the day you have the same production knife that I or anyone could buy could buy and I am not convinced that the slight improvement in performance justifies the additional cost of the knife. That being said I should have put more thought into my original post, when I re-read it it was too pointed and sounded condescending which was not my intent, what I should have said was the next time you are considering spending that much money for a knife look at a custom knife from Von Gruff here on AH.

As for the performance and quality of Von Gruffs knifes I'll let Von Gruff and his legion of fans here on AH cover that topic, please check out the links below.

Von Gruff is a gem in the custom knife world, he makes very high quality, high performance working knifes for the price of premium production knifes. Spend some time looking at all the different handle shapes and materials he has to offer, I think you will be impressed. You will find that he personally stabilizes all of his wood blanks before he uses them for handle scales, this is an extra step he takes to insure your handle scales will last for more than our lifetime. Each of his knifes come with a custom leather sheath hot wax formed to your knife. When you buy a Von Gruff knife its yours and no one else's until you pass it down to your grandchildren.

As for you views on mora knifes I agree 100% they are good knifes not great knifes. My Garberg is Sanvik stainless but I probably would not buy another one, not because I don't like the knife but because I think my $40 mora bushcraft black will do the same things the Garberg will do but at half the price.

I have attached a picture of the knifes I commonly use in the field, the one in the upper left is my Von Gruff, it is one of his earlier pieces and was given to me by my father @Shootist43. I will admit that my
Von Gruff is not as pretty as your Fallkniven but she is 100% all knife and she is all mine.

My handloaded 232 grains Oryx didnt perform well.
But the factory loaded Lapua Naturalis did. Will order some Naturalis bullets later and try to duplicate the load. Some more load development may also solve the Oryx trouble.

Tonight im going out hunting.

Lakebranch338, were the shots shown in your previous post all from a cold barrel or were they fired one after the other. For testing and load development I like to do all of my shooting out of a cold barrel. My second question is why the 232 Gn. bullet and not the 286 which is considered the normal weight for this caliber? Given the group you did achieve I'd be more than ready / willing to take it hunting. The tweaking I'm suggesting can take place later. One of my faults is that I'm always looking for more accuracy than what I "need" for hunting. :):)

They are fired one after the other. Thats around 20mm c-c grouping.
Its the Lapua Naturalis.

The 232gr was 5 shots somewhere around 70-80 mm. Maybe enough for hunting but not for me. Some fine tuning may help. Also my shooting today might not have been at its best.

My thought on the 15 grams instead of 18,5 was that with the lighter bullet would duplicate a 30-06 with 200 grains, 13 grams, bullet since both would leave the barrel at 800 m/s or so. Also i know many who prefer the lighter Oryx and feels that it kills the animal faster.

The Naturalis is a copper bullet and its wheight is 250 grain or 16,2 grams.

One of my favorite mid-bores is a 35 Whelen. It is almost the ballistic twin of your 9.3 x 62. Its normal bullet is 250 Gn. but I like shooting a 225 Gn. Barnes TSX (all copper) bullet at 2730 FPS. It is an emphatic killer. Good luck tonight!!

Tomorrow i hope to post some other pictures.

Ok then, how about "Weidmannsheil" Yeah, I know it is German, but hopefully it is acceptable in concept anyway.:rolleyes:

No luck hunting tonight. But i got to spend some quality time with this boy though.
A 2 year old bull moose. He hung around for almost an hour. Nice with some company.

Well, maybe i should take that no luck tonight back.
I consider myself pretty lucky to have had him so close for so long time this evening.
