Hello gentlemen, Just before the lockdown I bought a second hand Kimber rifle in 243 Win. It is the 84M Classic. I have to tell you what a great rifle this is and wish I had bought one years ago. I did not have time to properly zero it but now we are allowed out to play I spent some time on the range.
Great trigger and after a bit adjustment with the bullet seating depth it now shoots half inch groups. It is also a very light rifle so it will be perfect for Scotland on the Reds. Well done USA for a great rifle.

Kimber makes very nice rifles that always seem to be good shooters out of the box!

Do they still produce Caprivi in chamberings above 375? I've heard rumours it is discontinued?

I've heard very polarizing reviews on Kimber rifles.
Either very positive and will never buy another brand of rifle.
Or very negative and will never buy a Kimber product again.

Glad you got a good one.

I messaged them on Instagram yesterday because I was considering ordering another Caprivi. Unfortunately not good news.

Man I am one of the people that love them, I love my Caprivi it fits me perfectly, I am shooting it really well and functions flawlessly. My mission is to now find another one secondhand in maybe 416 for something different.

@MarkCZ - I have hunted with an 84M in .243 and they are quick handling rifles, congratulations on getting 1/2" groups from your rifle and I am sure it will severe you well for years to come.

@BeeMa - I know what you mean about the polar opposite views on Kimber.

It came to be known as the...

"Kimber Crap Shoot",
(crap shoot = American slang for gambling by rolling dice; as in buying a Kimber would be a gamble on accuracy)

Meaning, you didn't know if you were buying a rifle that would shoot sub MOA or sub grape fruit sized groups.

I've seen Kimbers that were both accurate and not, with the accurate being in far greater numbers.

I know I have been looking for a good Caprivi

The 1 Kimber I have spent time with is my father's. Accurate, good trigger but in 300 WSM it has feeding issues of you are easy on the bolt. Otherwise fine, Kimber 1911's are another issue. They refused to send my CDP back to me saying it was out of spec. It needed a new barrel due to the rounds jamming. I sent it back with that issue after alot of trouble shooting. Then it needed a new frame cause the pin holes were out of spec also. Maybe 5,000 rounds through it being generous. They told me "I got my use out of an aluminum frame" pistol. In fairness they lady in customer service was awesome and they cut me a deal with a retailer since they can't directly sell me a gun. I lost money but was satisfied with a steele frame....till 8 hours in a kydex holster ( crossbread and a sepa) the finish started coming off horribly. Not a nice patina type, nor on sharp edges, big areas. Its accurate and functions fine, I will just never buy anything Kimber again.

I own two kimber rifles, a mountain ascent In 7 mag and a Kimber hunter in 6.5 CM. They both shoot very well and are easy to carry. The Kimber hunter weighs just over 7 lbs with a scope. I think they are worth the money.

Grats.......a lotta dollar value in a Kimber Classic.............It may not have the fit and finish of a Rigby or a Hartmann and Weiss, but it's as close to it as I'll ever get, and for 5% of the money...........FWB

@JohnJ - I didn't want to bring up Kimber pistols, but I agree with you 100% because the quality/quality control on Kimber pistols has gotten to a shameful low.

I’ve owned or now own a 375 Talkeetna, 308 Classic Supreme and 243 Montana. All accurate and function well. Sold the classic...just too nice for the abuse I put my tools through.
I’ve only had good experiences with my Kimbers both Oregon and Yonkers made. Just lucky I guess. Now I want a Montana in 30-06.

So far I’ve found Kimber rifles to be great. However, I’m not a fan of their customer service. I spoke with them about an issue on three occasions and basically got the same: We’ll look at it but you bought it, it’s your problem.
I’m sorry to see them drop the .416 and .458 Lott chamberings. You’d think they could at least offer those on a special order basis with a $100-$200 premium.

I love my Kimber 300WSM. Good trigger, carries and handles nice, and very accurate. I had heard of feeding issued with the steep shoulder on the WSM but have not experienced it all with my rifle.

I have 2 fclass rifles, one built on a trued and sleeve rem action and one on a nesika bay.
they weigh nearly 20 lbs, and were built by banchrest gunsmiths.with the best bits, and shot off benchrest bags.with powerful scopes and windflags.
I cannot say they will put all their shots into 1/2 moa ever.
and that is with batched, b.r. prepped brass which is neckturned and has min runout.
also none of my hunting or varmint rifles will shoot 10 shots into 1/2" at 100.
call me unlucky if you like, but I wish I could get one of these rifles so many people seem to own that just pump out 1/2 moa groups at will.

@bruce moulds I too would be amazed to see a rifle shoot 10 shots into 1/2” at 100 yards. The marketing folks seem to claim accuracy based on only 3 shots, based on what I have read. Some of the magazines only do 5 shot test groups. The difference between 3 shots and 5 shots is significant. Move that to 10 shots and I don’t think “most” people can shoot a “1 MOA” rifle into 1 moa in 10 shots.

I especially dislike the marketing when ammo manufactures talk about “Excellent bullet performance on game out to 700 yards“... or “this rifle will shoot 1000 yards accurately“

with that said, the two Kimber rifles I own have shot very nice 3 shot groups at a 100 yards. For me, that is 3 shots in a inch or less. Does that happen 100% of the time... hmm, oh, by the way, did I tell you a marriage is always easy?

Hi Bruce, I haven,t tried 10 shots but I will very soon just to see what happens obviously as the barrel heats up things could get interesting. If my Kimber can shoot 3 rounds in half inch then that is good enough as in a hunting situation the first shot is what matters.
My son has a custom built hunting rifle on a Remington action in 243 win. and he can shoot the 1 inch bull out with 10 rounds at 100 yrds, I have seen him do it. (he is a far better shot than me). my previous CZ 550 in 243 will put 3 rounds in a 1 inch bull all day long and my nephew has that rifle now. When I get time i will do some range shooting with all my rifles and post the photo,s. The rifles I have are 30-06 CZ, 275 Rigby, 308 browning BLR (this will never do 1 inch at 100 yrds) and the Kimber 243.

Finally blooded the Kimber 243. This Muntjac taken at 200 yrds. Very happy.

Well done sir. That is truly a fine rifle!

Interesting comments on accuracy. If I wanted to grab a rifle out of the safe and sure enough put 5 shots in a 1” group at 200 yards, it would be an AR, and I’ve got some very accurate bolt guns. It’s actually a little embarrassing.
