Just bought an Auto Ordnance new manufactured 1928 Thompson 45 acp . It is a SBR here in the US

Odd timing, I was at the range this morning and a man sat down with one of those. He went full auto with a full mag. WOW, everyone stopped what they were doing and watched the show. Brass flying out as fast as they could. Impressive. He pops in another mag, same thing, holds the trigger down, brass spitting out, crazy full auto noise......and then...poof, smoke, malfunction.....I think he said a cuss word or two, not very loudly, then said it looked 'broke' and was going to have to have a gunsmith look at it. He had a squib round, cooked one off....messed something up....so be careful with yours. they truly are a weapon to own if you can get your hands on one.

@webbleyGreene455 Where they Australian troops stationed in Tasmania? I believe that is were they stopped the Japanese. Those are some very good pictures, I often wonder the fate of those men when viewing old military photos.

The top one is from October 1942, Milne Bay, New Guinea. The bottom is from September 1941, Tobruk, Libya.

Japanese in Tasmania?!? No, that would be rarer than locating a Tasmanian Tiger there. One of Australia’s greatest contributions to the war in the Pacific - and there were many - were the grueling battles along the Kokoda trail in Papua New Guinea. The first picture could be from anywhere along the northern coast of New Guinea. The second photo is clearly North Africa where again ANZACS made a critical contribution to victory.
 
Will it fire from an open bolt after that? And will it have a hammer or a fixed firing pin like the original M1A1? If I recall the M1A1 was the only Thompson to use the fixed firing pin.

As I said, the first one is indeed from Milne Bay in New Guinea and the second is Tobruk. And speaking of Tasmanian Tigers, there was something I saw about those today. Publishing the last known film footage of a thylacine in captivity, I think it was.

Mate I don't believe any troops have been stationed in Tasmania. It would have been to far from the front. We stopped the Japanese on the Kakoda track in New Guinea mate. You should be able to find out more on the web about the battle.
