Prince Harry sells his Purdey rifles

Wow this crowd is pretty hard on this young guy. .............

Does kinda look like/similar to this?

"Animal rights campaigners outraged as Texas cheerleader poses in dozens of photos alongside the rare animals she hunts on African safaris
  • Kendall Jones, 19, is posting the photos on Facebook, where some believe the shots should be taken down
  • Jones has posted shots of herself posing with dead elephants, hippos and lions among others that she's killed across Africa
  • Jones claims her kills come after a 'fair chase,' but thousands are demanding that Facebook remove the posts
  • Jones is a cheerleader at Texas Tech and is gunning for a reality show about her African adventures

This is a hunting forum. It seems reasonable that members might share unfavorable comments about people who are anti hunters. Many of them are not courteous to us. I am far too old to turn the other cheek. When anti's confront me, I confront back. Trying to make a rational and factual reply to an emotional, irrational anti is futile, IMO. I enjoyed the thread. Anti's frequently advocate hostility toward us. Nothing similar here...just poking a little fun at the rich, celebs........(perhaps they will unfriend us :()....FWB

Well said Major. Prince Harry is a man much to be pitied. His bride on the other hand is despicable.

As I far as I am concerned I think the royalty is a load of outdated and irrelevant lot of rubbish whose numerous members sponge on the public purse.

Anyway, enough of the comments about their marriage, there's enough gutter press around the world making up or guessing at stories about them. I personally don't blame him one bit for sticking his finger up to the UK and moving away. The way he has been treated is disgusting.

He is a decent guy, served his country with honour and because the media don't approve of his choice of wife, have since been driven by a lynch mob mentality and have brain washed the masses into their way of thinking through lies, half truths and guesswork.

My original question was did anyone here have a good deal?
Did anyone here buy the rifles? Know someone who did? Does anyone know what rifles they are? Calibres?

I can't find much at all, just a rehashing of the story that he sold them.
If anyone can share information about the rifles it would be of interest.

His brother gave him the best advice: with an actress you spend a night, not a life.

Actually, it was his grandfather´s advice, Prince Philip, who is quite outspoken.

Anyway, I could not care less about Prince Harry´s life, or that of any other celebrity, most of which I have no idea of who they are, that´s none of my business.

What does worry me, is that some of these people have the status of "influencers", so everything they do or say influences the the general public, that has no opinions of their own.

And this couple just happens to be against hunting

Let's go Full Tabloid Edition.

"Despite earlier reports that Meghan Markle had prohibited her husband from joining all the other royal lads for their Boxing Day hunting tradition, Prince Harry partook in his beloved pastime — and the palace will have you know that Meghan was fine with it.

Earlier this month, rumors started to circulate that the PETA-approved duchess of Sussex had asked Harry to skip out on the annual ritual at the queen’s Sandringham estate, as she cares quite a bit about animal welfare and is reportedly opposed to blood sports. A royal source speculated that this might have caused a rift between Harry and Prince William, as the tradition was always a “great chance to bond as brothers.” But according to insiders who spoke to the Daily Mail, Harry went “out as usual for the shoot after a hearty breakfast” yesterday with William and the others, and Markle was apparently chill with it.

“It’s completely untrue that Her Royal Highness has banned the Duke from shooting,” a palace source insisted. Another told the Mail that “Harry believes shooting is a sustainable field sport, and she won’t stop him.”

Hmm, perhaps he’s decided to shoot but not stalk. We are all assuming she made him sell the rifles. The man served in a tough war and likely experienced some pretty significant emotional trauma. My great uncle fought with the Canadian expeditionary force at Ypres. All Canadians know the story of that battle. He was 17 and never the same afterward. To the best of my knowledge he never touched a firearm again after returning home.

men who take up arms for the country some times end up in the thick of it, and it does change you. you can not got thru that with out comming out with things that with never be right with you. you can try and hide them or cover them up to no advail. i can,t watch fireworks inperson, but i can on TV, as large bangs still makes me jumpy after over 50 years. and their are many who never get back to right, they need out payers and help.

If she influenced him to sell the rifles and stop hunting, I have no respect and he is a wuss. You’ve got to set the tone right away about these subjects. I can’t believe some men let this happen and where is the education? If you can’t educate your own wife and kids as to the conservation value of proper hunting, you have failed the brotherhood.

Reminds me of a guy I guided to a giant bull elk. After pictures, I started caping the bull when he interrupted me and said there was no reason to continue because his wife wouldn’t let him put it in the house. I was disgusted and asked him if his wife paid the mortgage alone or what? He woke up to his testicles and said, “You’re right. Cape the son of a B.” He later sent me a picture of the mount hanging above their fireplace. Glad to have helped!

The problem today is too many males brought up in male-less, female heads of household. When I taught machine shop, the first day of class I would ask if anyone had used power tools. Oddly enough some girls said yes. When questioned about operating gasoline engine equipment like mowing the grass, one young man said his mother wouldn't let him. It was too dangerous. In side conversations and after they found out I was a gun guy, I would ask them if they had any firearms. Just shook my head when I heard the same thing "My mom won't let me have one". These are 20 year old and up males. When they marry, there will be no mistaking who's running the show. Very difficult to break that culture and that's what prevalent in the U.S.

To read through this is actually pretty sad.

I don't much care about the Prince and his bride one way or the other. With the demise of divine right, royalty is nothing more than state subsidized celebrity. I am glad we moved beyond that in the late 18th century (though as a culture we unfortunately seem to have substituted a worship for celebrity). Harry did his part in uniform - that is more than most of his generation on either side of the Atlantic. I have no idea what the young man actually thinks or his motivations for selling a couple of firearms. Neither, I suppose, does anyone else on this site.

What is really unfortunate is how many here seem so bitter about their marriages and the institution. I married my trophy wife the first time around as well. We are still romantically involved nearly forty years later. We genuinely like each others' company. She was my full partner in the military career of an Army officer. With the Army's expectations, she might as well have sworn the oath as well. She is not a hunter, but has always encouraged my pursuit of that passion. We really enjoy traveling together and fulfilling our dreams for our little place here in Texas.

I suppose the odds of Harry and Meghan having a successful marriage under the klieg lights of the international press, and the musings of their "friends" is pretty remote. But I wish them well.

Those days of finding one like that are gone forever. The divorce rate is 50% and getting one to stick around long enough to get both of your acts together is another lost cause. I see a lot of breakups after the kids are gone and both find out they don't have anything in common except their offspring. It'd be nice but I don't see these times coming back anytime soon.

I guess women just want a half ass excuse of man today then! Once they find out its not what its made out to be they then find a MAN normally older then them (cue us hunting guys). Well thats what I'm holding out for anyway :LOL:

I’ve been married to the love of my life for 37 years now. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones!
I guess shes ok with your hunting then? ATB bro

Fifty three years for us but then again our first date, I took here dove hunting and explained with a father and two brothers that are die hard hunters, this is the future.

OK with it, I can’t go to Africa without her! She shot her first Cape Buffalo last year. Gal can walk me into the ground and I’m in good shape! Back home she shoots two deer to every one of mine!

It's 28 years for us. She was a California girl originally. First date was to a western themed restaurant in Colorado with red meat on the menu and taxidermy heads on the wall after a hike. Told her I would be leaving in a couple weeks to guide elk hunters and that's what I do. Too bad Harry didn't educate his California girl and probably too late now. If he has any balls at all, I don't see it lasting forever.

If any of you have not made a stupid decision based on what a woman wanted, please raise your hand. I'm sure there are a couple of you. This shit is a little over the top. Yes, it feels like betrayal from someone that we thought of as a dedicated hunter. I get it.
Norfolk Shooter and I were talking about this earlier. I'm not going to try to break down Harry's psychology. I think that he's always wanted to be "free" of being a senior Royal but that thought process was always filtered with him ultimately being a Royal and the privileges and respect that brought him. I think he would have been happier remaining in the Army, but family expectations grew too great. I originally wondered whether the love of his life would be able to adapt to the responsibilities and constraints of being a senior Royal. The answer is obvious now. In his efforts to protect his wife, he's alienated his family and created a difficult road to return on. I also think Harry will be completely lost in LA. Supposedly, there are staying at Tyler Perry's compound. I just wonder how long the generosity of their Hollywood friends will last.
It's sad that he has chosen to allow her to dictate his major life decisions like this. If only he had married Chelsea Davies, we might even see him at SCI or DSC. Sadly, he didn't. It won't be long until the Anti's attack him for having been a hunter and not reciting the mantra condemning hunting that they expect of him.
Yoko (Meghan) was a successful actress as she had a firm role in a show and was consistently working. She's not major talent. Her current status may buy her a couple roles that she'll struggle to fill, but the novelty will wear off sooner or later. They'll then return to the UK as she'll need to matter and Harry only has so much wealth.
My prediction: Harry returns to the UK a broken man and has to put things back together after Yoko is done with him. She'll play the victim and milk that for a while. Hopefully, he doesn't try to handle the divorce in CA as that won't play well for him.
Just my humble opinion.
