COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

Reading about SAA, we were booked on it from Joberg to Windhoek and back. Haven’t received any cancellation notice. Hope I don’t just lose the money!

In the USA annually.

approx 38,000 automobile deaths

approx 250,000 medical error deaths

approx 88,000 alcohol related deaths.

Just a few samples.

But hey, lets destroy global economies, and peoples lives, to keep the death toll of Coronavirus to a minimum. Never mind all the other killing machines. Those are acceptable losses, and backpage news.

Which makes one wonder what's really going on behind the scenes.....

Not sure where “half a million” (500,000) “flu deaths will occur yearly” comes from. CDC web site under Burden of Influenza has data for last to years showing a range of 12,000 deaths in the 2011-2012 flu season to 61,000 in the 2017-2018 season. Flu season runs fro Oct to May, 8 months. The current count on the JHU Coronavirus site shows 33,284 deaths since about mid Feb. These deaths have occurred in one quarter the time as an annual flu season while under severe mitigation efforts not applied to our annual experience with influenza. Absent the mitigation effort it would be much worse and would get much worse from where we find ourselves today with the planning and intent to Start the journey back to a new normal.
It’s about a half million worldwide. Ask before you jump.

I agree that locking people down has slowed the virus but the reason to lock down is mostly to protect older people and people with underlying conditions. Do you not understand that it would be faster and better to put those people in isolation and not all of us? Yes, there are a small number of healthy people that die but it is a very low percentage and quite frankly, that is unavoidable.

It shouldn't affect Airlink. They are privately owned. Their relationship with SAA was more like a regional carrier flying under their banner. Now if they can weather this storm of covid19 chaos and come out of here without going bankrupt as well is still a question that we don't know the answer to.

Were you thinking South Africa Express instead?

Seeing as none of these examples cause death by standing next to a stranger in the Walmart don’t you think this is a false equivalency?

Yes, SA Express.

Maybe not acceptable, just a byproduct of modern life. They're also the basis for millions of jobs.

No. I'm more likely to die driving down the street, or being admitted into a hospital.

Just saw in our local paper, for our area, impaired driving accidents are up.

Probably people that are stuck at home, and drinking more out of boredom?
Yeah. Normally it's drinking interrupted by working. No work, uninterrupted drinking.:D:p

Well, with us in Germany it is not different.

The Italian government yesterday rejected a 39 billion loan from the EU.
Why? Because it is linked to conditions and a repayment plan.
But they reject it completely.
I don't understand why the Italians believe ,that the other nations should give away their tax money without repayment and reforms, which are necessarry?
The Mafia is most happy about the stupidities (which are guaranteed to come) of the EU North.
It's hard to understand, I know. If you want to become really confused and/or furious over government benefits try talking to USA Democrats.
One example:

It’s impossible to remove all risks in life, including this one. Just how long should ALL of us be locked down versus the truly vulnerable?

Being an old fart, I would appreciate it if you young bucks carrying the virus don’t visit me, nor go to the senior times at the grocery and drug store!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I just always thought we were so stupid.
We have millions !! who don't pay any contributions...............

Germany has today taken in 47 unaccompanied refugee children from Greece (stranded there) out of a planned 1600 to be distributed throughout the EU.
It's ok, you have to have a heart.
But there are only four girls in the group! Hello, why that ?
Most Children who are just 10,12 years old, they are said to have found their way to the smugglers
There is system behind it.
