Change of plans anyone?

I’m taking it one day at a time. And re-reading Matthew 6: 25-34.

It did occur to me that if my family Safari can’t happen in June, and then later in the year doesn’t work for the whole family... maybe I should just sneak over to Namibia in August or September and burn the credit I have, then rebook in 2021?
I need a hunting goal on the calendar to dream about! Pushing the pause button on dreams is hard for all of us.

@jduckhunter read some C.J. Box books about Game warden Joe Picket in Wyoming before you go.
I agree pushing pause on our dreams is hard to do! My future trips are what keep me going day to day.

I am fortunate that although I’ve had tremendous adventures stacked on top of one another lately I’ve nothing planned internationally the rest of this year. I got to got to Cameroon in January and my wife and I went to Bora Bora for an anniversary trip in March, both before the world collectively lost their minds. The RSA group Hunt I am planning for 2022 is still on but 2021 may not be doable for my group we will see. I am booked for moose in AK for 2021.

I've got a Canadian moose hunt booked for mid September. I guess we'll see. If COVID dictates the hunt can't take place the outfitter said I'll get the deposit back in full anyway.

I have back to back Canadian hunts in September for CBG Caribou & Canadian Moose then Woodland Caribou and EC Moose. I remain optimistic and being early in the flu season we should be able to travel before the next round of this virus. Like all challenges man has faced in the past, we shall learn to live with this one. Perseverance and Prayer - my mantra.

Supposed to leave May 20th for Eastern Cape. Going Delta from Atlanta. Sure it’s not happening. Sounds like the Kung flu is just getting warmed up.
Stay safe and healthy all.

Booked a trip to Namibia in mid July.
Guess it have to wait for a year!:(

I've got a deposit down on my April 2021 hunt so I'm locked in on price except for what I might shoot that is not included. I'm wondering how prices are going to be next year. Will outfitters jack them up to make up for lost revenue or will they remain stable? What is the exchange rate going to be? Will this virus be controlled enough to allow travel and hunting? Will airlines be flying and what kind of schedules will they have? Depending on our economy, will we have money to travel and hunt? So many questions, so many unknowns.

Still booked for RSA in early September. Havent heard of my carrier canceling flights as of yet. Fingers crossed but not particularly optimistic.

With the Rand pushing 19 to 1 US dollar I wonder how this will affect pricing for next year. Is SA in an inflationary spiral upwards? Will SAA still be in service after this virus settles down...outfitters surviving thru this must be so challenging, how will they be affected for next year..so many unknowns, makes it difficult planning for next year. Best to all and hoping a new normal to be as close to our old normal as possible. I just want to get back before it is too late for me to enjoy another trip Africa to as it was in previous years.

Was going to be my first trip to RSA and was supposed to leave May 31st which isn't going to happen clearly now and I have paid for all airfare and wired my safari balance in full. Luckily I have a great outfitter who allowed me to re-book for the same exact dates for next year and in exchange I am paying to bring my Dad on his dream hunt as well to RSA with me so I guess it's a win win outside of not getting to go on the trip this year I was so excited for. I'm out the airfare, but happy I'll get to have that first experience with my Dad now and hopefully will be able to save up a little more $$ to add additional Trophies to my trip for those last 2-3 animals that were just out of reach financially if I went this year. Best of luck to everyone and hope everyone who is able to get over there this year have an awesome hunt! Happy hunting friends!

I was to leave 2 weeks from today to South Africa. Finally, South African Airways said people could rebook their tickets through early 2022. So I am rebooked for next April. I am sad our local SCI banquet had to be canceled. Frustrating, but, it is what it is!!!

If you bought those tickets in the US and the airline canceled the flight, you are entitled to a refund to the original form of payment under DOT rules. If the airline refuses the refund, the next course of action is to open a dispute with your CC company and file a complaint with DOT here: https://airconsumer.dot.gov/escomplaint/ConsumerForm.cfm

Everyone has their own priorities. For me, cash is king in the current environment and I wouldn't want to bet on whether any particular airline will be in business in a year.

I think that if I was in the same boat that a lot of you are in right now with trips planned for this year I would be working with my outfitter to re-book for next year.

Even if all this virus stuff gets a handle on it you may still face travel restrictions well into the fall.

Well, my plans to hunt turkey this weekend seems like they got cancelled. Georgia will be under a shelter in place order starting today at noon. Need to find out if hunting is ok since I'll practicing social distancing.

Groundhog hunting PA and trout fishing in DE, they both fall in as essential mental health activities. (y)

Disregard my previous post. I was able to get in touch with one of the region DNRs, and I was told that turkey hunting is good to go. So, I'll be out tomorrow. (y)(y)(y)(y)(y)(y)

I miss Whistle Pig huntin!!!!

It's the best way to stay sharp. After hunting them all summer, big game is a walk in the park.

Argentina closed their boarders to Americans 4 days before my Red Stag hunt with MG Hunting. Now its a wait and see game with the Airlines so I can reschedule my hunt.

I am scheduled for Namibia arriving June 15 of this year. I see that not happening and it is so disappointing. I still have a Kodiak Island hunt in October and my son who lives in Anchorage drew a Brown Bear tag for there. My other son and I will hunt deer and ducks after my resident son fills, hopefully, his bear tag.

Nonresident brown bear cancelled in Alaska this spring so that sucks. I really enjoy guiding those. My son’s April 11 wedding in NY state is delayed to June (yeah right!). Other son’s wedding August 16 in CO is now in doubt. Damn bat eaters!

My father once said " that man can lie days without water or food, but One must have a goal to look forward to., or he will just as surely die".
We have move our May trip to November, and hope that works out, if not back again May of 2021.
