Hi. Bought a CZ a while back in 416Rigby. Love the rifle, but the previous owner had the LOP shortened to just a tad over 13", and I find it a little short for comfort. It also seems a little high for me as I want to keep it with open sights. My question is; does anyone know a source in Canada ( or the US that I can import from) that I can get a Bavarian style CZ stock from? It would be an ideal fix for me. Thanks in advance

I'm referring to "hogback" rather than fs. Hoping the lower stock will let me align the open sights better.

Checked it out and they only ship within the US. Bummer. Limited options here in the frozen north.

I have one. I took it off my CZ 416 Rigby and replaced it with a McMillan. It's sitting in my shop. Give me a PM gpbowers@gmail.com.

I see that you may have made a purchase from one of the friendly members here. If you need anything else in Canada, you can try this guy at London Arms; London.David@live.com
He is located outside of Toronto, is the importer for CZ on the Eastern side of Canada. I have dealt with him before, seems like a good man.

Thanks for that, Dean. May well get in touch with him as i'm looking for a CZ in 458 win or lott. They are scarce in Canada and importing from the US adds a lot of $ to the cost, particularly with the current exchange rate.

He may have what you are looking for, however, his prices fluctuate with the markets unfortunately. I bought my last 550 off of him when our dollar was almost at a par, and the deal was good. You never know, maybe give him a try.

Thanks for all the offers, guy's, but i'm going to have to go the Canada only route. Seems stocks are in the same class as firearms and importing one to Canada is expensive, time consuming, and entails a lot of red tape. Go figure. It's a piece of wood.
Added: Thanks for the info Dean. A new 550Lux in 458wm has been purchased and is on it's way, thanks to your recommendation.

G'day Earle, if you obtain a CZ Bavarian Hog Back stock it may pay to take it to a gunsmith to add an additional recoil cross bolt in the stock just ahead of the magazine. During my first hunt on the field, I had my rifle slung over my shoulder whilst hiking to a hunting destination, when my forward rifle sling pulled free and the rifle dropped to the ground. Upon examination it was discovered that my stock had a hairline split which had opened up causing the sling swivel screw to work it's way loose. The distributors whom I purchased the rifle were kind enough to offer me an American stock, as they had no Bavarian stock available at that time, but as I loved the Bavarian stock, therefore they organized for my rifle to be repaired by an extremely well known professional gunsmith free of charge, and the gunsmith did a fantastic job, and put in an additional recoil cross bolt ahead of the magazine, similar to the American style .416 Rigby stocks. I love BRNO and CZ rifles, it was just a one off freak occurence, but if you are hunting big game, it may pay to do the upgrade.

Thanks Dinosaur, but the whole idea may become moot. I can't source a lux style stock for love nor money. Had a couple very kind offers from forum members, but US based. Importing a piece of lumber is an exercise is frustration and any Canadian contacts I have tried so far are not answering inquries. Worst case scenario is I will have to mount a scope on the rifle, something I don't particularly want to do.

That's a real shame Earle, as I prefer to use open sights, and purchased this particular rifle because of the same reason, and the stock feels and points great when shouldered. Custom stocks are expensive, but may be the only other option. I do wish you all the best in locating the desired stock, and shall keep my eye open if one appears.

Regards
Rob

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
