Curious to see what action people are taking for the Coronavirus

So I made this for my wife's birthday yesterday, it was plenty for us and the grandson. Now tonight it's turkey pot pie. This being hunkered down is going to be hard on my diet.

You're killing me. I lost a lot of weight and worked out to make my back pack hunt in Greenland. Hate to see the weight gain come back. So I bought a treadmill and a dumb bell set and hope to at least maintain. Now if I can keep the Homebrew to a minimum my Facebook posts won't look to insane

I know what you mean, I am my own worst enemy when it comes to cooking and dieting. Warm weather is coming so I'll soon be outside mowing and working in the garden hopefully I can work some off and keep it off. This shut down can't last forever.

Here in Kansas some counties have went into 30 day lockdowns. Even restricting driving. You can drive for essential needs only. My county has only closed bars restaurants and gyms. But I think the big ones coming.

I think the big one's coming as well, I'm in Wichita.

quiet in Charleston SC. the virus is present and has taken some relatives of friends/acquaintances but still a degree of separation though I grieve their loss... at the same time I have friends( mid 50s) who have tested positive up the road in NC and have very light symptoms
I'm staying around the house with family, doing a bunch of deferred organizing in the sporting side of the garage .. planted a garden plus some fishing in the creek... hoping work is good after this
cheers

Maine is still relatively quiet. Afraid we are about to become inundated with folks escaping NY and other hard hit areas.

Spice cake with maple butter cream frosting yesterday. Wife is in the kitchen making cookies now.

If all had gone to plan I would be packing my bags right now. Would have been leaving in 8 days. Guess I’ll have more time to practice, loaded up some more practice ammo yesterday as well.

The State of Alaska is hunkered down. Anyone new traveling into the State must self quarantine, and only essential travel is permitted within the State.

Wife works in healthcare admin and has been going to work, but starting tomorrow will be working from home.

I have still been working moving cargo, lumber and building supplies mostly, headed to Anchorage. But thats about to end. The cruise ships, which is the largest portion of our summer work, have tanked until July and likely much longer. I am looking forward to getting in some spring bear hunting and fishing as the lakes and streams start to break up. And my reloading bench needs lots attention....

That's what I've been doing as well. Had some brand new 6.5x55 brass that I forgot I had, decided to load it up.

I got bored and booked a musk ox hunt. Other than that I am walking around with my pack and 50lbs, dont worry I am walking by myself.

I see droned pictures of large US cities- showing how vacant they are. Just a month ago the same drone pictures were showing hundreds of tents and related housing options for homeless people living on the streets and margins. SO--Where did all the homeless people go??

Worried they are doing this again?

Maybe they're adding a new century to the term Shanghi'ing someone/many.

The Guv ordered a mandatory stay home state wide here in NV today except for essential personnel. Funny, though, he declared pot shops essential last week. Now with this mandatory lockdown I wonder what all those junkies are going to do if they can't go get their poison.

I'm pretty well stocked and made a quick run to the store this PM as soon as I heard about the lockdown to stock up on produce and fresh fruit. Haven't heard how long this is going to last yet.

Batten down for a blow. I have projects around the house to occupy me for awhile and lots of old movies on tv, and, of course, AH posts to read. Waiting on an order of bullets from Midway so I can finish a batch of 380s for my daughter. I have several hundred primed cases of 9mm and 45acp but no bullets. I thought about ordering some but I have several thousand loaded and components are becoming scarce. Sound familiar?

As an Essential Worker my bride has to make her way into the hospital everyday to work with sick people. So, precautions have to be taken.

I decided it was time to make my kitchen look like a Meth Lab.
Dropped by the Laboratory supply store and got some glass wear a while back. (This was actually to aid in teaching the family relations that were to be locked out of school.)

You can't get hand sanitizer here either. (No doubt some prick has a warehouse full somewhere)

Link to the recipe.
WHO-recommended Handrub Formulations

https://www.who.int/gpsc/5may/Guide_to_Local_Production.pdf

The WHO recipe is for large amounts. I don't need that much, so a minimal math skills were employed.

Since I could not get my hands on the exact percentages v/v of the ingredients. I had to use some algebra skills and took a walk back down memory lane to high school chemistry class.

After all the research was done and the math completed it was time to get it done.
Filtered the Alcohol (C2H5OH), (find yourself a local hillbilly)
(Final product Minimum 60% v/v is required to actually kill bugs.)

Peroxide from, you guessed it, left overs from the skull bleaching 35%v/v H2O2
(End product 3% required to kill bacterial spores)

Glycerine 99.7% USP C3H8O3 as Humectant.

My "WHO LITE" Hand Rub. 64% v/v OH

One litre ready on Sunday after the required waiting period.

Hand sanitizers can be handy, when soap and water are inconvenient. 20 seconds with soap and water will do it.

When I was a kid hanging around my grandfathers auto repair shop I recall they had "waterless hand cleaner". I don't recall the name and it was more focused on cleaning grease & oil than on killing germs, but I wonder if that would be an alternative. If I could just remember the name.

Exactly. At home the soap and water is used as suggested.

This is just for those required trips when contacts are going to happen and you have no choice.
Grocery store, etc.

(This little exercise was mostly out of boredom and trying to do something useful.)
