I am sick

Well socialized health care systems have a big advantage when it comes to mobilizing to deal with a crises. We are seeing this now. I still support a privatized system but something has to be done to prevent this from happening again.

Whoa. Place the responsibility where it actually rests.
The Chief Medical Officer of Health makes recommendations and the government is implementing them.
We have a scientist heading the charge in Alberta. Thankfully.

Public and private services up here have to follow the protocol set out.

We have had a little tail chasing because each province sets it's own policy, but in general we are doing pretty well so far.

No matter what, get better soon.

I fit the profile. Had all the symptoms. They did flu, strep, CBC tests and a chest x ray before they would give me the test. I also had been exposed to international travelers.
And?

Flu, strep, CBC, even chest. X rays (pneumonia) are fast, easy tests and rule out the most common problems. Then they go from there.
For all of you involved I hope it is something antibiotics can help fight and not something more severe-

My daughter has an appointment to see the doctor this afternoon. They have gone back to the criteria used before we had tests. Since she has not traveled internationally and has not been in contact with anyone known to be infected she can come in to see the doctor. She also is having sinus issues this morning so hopefully we are dealing with upper respiratory infection and a Z-pack will be the answer.

Logic and reasonable protocols in the bright light of day.
Perfect, get checked out.
In the end, don't spread what ever she has either.
Stay home and get better.

Just spoke with my daughter. No flu and no bacterial infection. Her chest x-rays were not great but not bad - infer what you wish. They tested her for COVID-19. The results are taking 5-7 days. Of course there is a curve with everything concerning the virus right now so in 5-7 days that is likely going to be 9-12 days. They gave her a steroid shot, an inhaler, and sent her home. They told her to assume she has it until they tell her she does not.

At least she is now in the system and can get further care quicker now.

Than you everyone for your concern and support. My daughter is going to check in with me every 3 hours. She has 3 roommates that are locked down with her. They will be monitoring my daughter so for now this is about as good a situation as can be had.

I just spoke with my daughter and she is about the same. She will call her doctor's office first thing and we will go from there. She told me she had already come to the conclusion that if she could not get the order for a test then she would just call an ambulance and they would have to take her.
IV vitamin C has shown to work. The problem is most doctors don’t know about anything that is not synthetic. Anyone who even suspects they have this bug should be treated with IV vitamin C. It can make a big difference.

Hope your daughter and her room mates get well and feel better soon.

I am not even sure there is a supply of liquid vitamin C in this area.

I was unaware of this, but I did look it up. Most of the stories are from today, so its a fairly new thing. Apparently its used in conjunction with the chloroquine and the Zpack. Has been showing some good results in China at least.
But I imagine it would be up to the doc's whether it was used or not. You don't just walk into an ER and say, hey you, Get that IV Vit C going stat!;) LOL.o_O:eek: Probably hand you a glass of orange juice!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Most likely you have to be working with a doc who is familiar with how your body heals itself versus most all who work with chemical pharmaceuticals. Integrative medicine is the term they are using for this field. It relies on how your body works naturally. Anyway its a long story and all I can tell you is to listen to the podcast You're the Cure by Dr. Ben Edwards from Lubbock Texas. The last two are especially enlightening especially with the current "crisis" we are all dealing with. I think as international hunters we do need to take our health seriously and learn as much as we can about boosting our immune systems. (Vit C, probiotics, cod liver oil, etc. as a starting point). Hope this wasn't opening a can of worms!

My daughter's test results just came back (only 3 days). She is negative and they prescribed prednisone and a z-pack assuming it is a bacterial infection. Thanks for all the support everyone.

Outstanding news JC, glad to hear the test is negative. BTW, we are still waiting on my wife test results. We were told now, 10 days. BTW, how did she find out? Did she received a call or called the hospital??? Thanks!
