Isn't this bill by the same guy who was worried that Guam would turn turtle if the military stationed more personnel there?

Yep..........

Yes

I get the feeling SA will lock down by wednesday...

Any idea of how you think it will work there?.....with so many here earning what they can selling on the streets ...at robots and in the markets.....how they would be able to keep going in a lock down I haven't a clue..... Be very difficult to enforce... and then what happens when confrontation with the authorities possibly occurs..... Not good.....

My little corner of the world. Cases doubled in the last few days. Testing?

What is a bit scary there is the 46 new cases in China...it had been quiet for a few days with no new cases, if there is a second wave this is going to be bad.

If you look at the US, we actually had a drop day to day in new cases for the first time. Need to see what the day brings but if new cases remain steady we might be at the top of curve. Still way to soon to tell but took it as something positive.

Not surprising with China. The country is massive and the reports have been coming out of a relatively small area. It is logical that when it hits Sechuan or harbin quit will be like hitting another country.

I think china info has been sketchy all along. Remember on Jan 14th even the WHO repeated the China line that human-human transmission had not been proven yet.

Neil Diamond did a PSA video..........

Really interesting articles regarding Italy:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-...se/have-many-coronavirus-patients-died-italy/

Read the whole thing, but a very interesting pgf:

“On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity - many had two or three,” he says.”

If a person dies while having CV, CV is listed as a cause of death. CV may have been the nail in the coffin, but good grief, it’s not quite how it’s represented.

we really have to get a handle on this damn thing, we are potentially making decisions based on grave assumptions.

Even with European countries, mortality rates are generally not an apples-to-apples comparison with the way we report here.

An example. In the US, any child that dies prior to the age of one (with a few exceptions, like auto accidents), the numbers are counted under the "infant mortality" statistic. In Europe, there are varying degrees to that, some so bad (like Spain) where any child who makes it home from the hospital after birth isn't counted in that country's "infant mortality" stat, even if they clearly should have been. I lost a son at 6 weeks, and if we'd have been in Spain, he'd have not been counted, even though he ended up dying during surgery (born with several heart-related problems that weren't detected until his 1 month checkup).

So what does that have to do with corona? Hard to say how European numbers are going to be skewed, but skewed they will be, at least relative to the way we report things here.

Take a look at this..London hospital, 39 years old..no previous disease..non-smoker..exercise regularily..

There’s no doubt that some otherwise healthy people will be seriously affected. As of now, for every one of these cases, there are many more who will not be as affected. It’s the overall trends that define the general risk line. We’ve had 144 pediatric deaths from flu this year, but compared to the risk found in older people, it’s anecdotal, as tragic as each death is.

I can’t remember a time when individual sicknesses and deaths were so counted - maybe aids? We are psychologically injuring our tolerances for any risk. Frustrating times.

I heard a discussion on cnbc about having the people over sixty stay in quarantine and letting the rest go back to work after these 14 days. There not staying in anyway so might as well work. I think someone here saying they should have done that from the start. But hey look at all the money they get for shutting done for two weeks.

"Social Distancing Rebels" being clamped down on in Nova Scotia and Quebec.

  • police will be authorized to enforce orders under the Health Protection Act. If Nova Scotians and businesses do not practice social distancing and self-isolation, they will face fines of $1,000 for individuals and $7,500 for businesses. Multiple fines can be given each day an individual or business fails to comply. Police can also enforce offences under the Emergency Management Act. For example, fines for charging higher than fair market prices for goods and services

Jehovas witnessed roaming the streets and the Mormons are sending a significant portion of their missionaries back to their home countries. . .
Two more significant earthquake aftershocks yesterday and today in Utah.
Remember that mass testing requires mass time and resources-neither of which are plentiful. And then You can always be exposed the day after that test. It has its purposes in quarantining But also affords a false sense of safety. We should already be doing a fair amount of quarantining anyway. Common sense is a great tool, too bad it is also in short supply=people partying on beaches, emptying grocery stores, failing to pass stimulus bills etc.

The damn Spammers on AH have not been impacted.
They are still in full swing.

The Governor of Michigan has just declared that all non essential activities are banned till April 14th. In reality it is just an extension of the Shelter in Place restriction she put into effect a week and a half ago. There are over a thousand cases of Covid 19 in the state but so far only 9 deaths. just about all of the deaths occurred on those with previous conditions.
