Today, with the Monday newspaper, I would 't change its original dressing.
Anyway, I put this Hensoldt Diasta 4x32 with the necesary action threaded holes and bolt handle forging.

Best!

I really like it!

No doubt some will recognize this one but I'll give a description. It is a System Haenel Model 1909 Schonzeitbüchse made in 1912 by proof mark. Chambered in 25/35 rimless as Haenel called it or .25 Remington as we know it, aka 6.5x52. DST, octagon to round barrel and 4x scope (Schmit&Bender I've been told) was added circa late '60s. I've seen picture of only one other owned by a fellow in Norway.

Nice Haenel!
This maker add some very useful and important improvement over the 1888 Commission "father" action.

No Clodo. But it's still in Zim - earning it's keep in the hands of PHs and Guides - as it should be. (y)

My " Old Belgian " - A 12 Bore Belgian double barreled side by side shot gun with 3 inch chambers , extractors and 28 inch long barrels ( a fully choked left and a modified choked right ) . I purchased it 61 years ago from an English tea garden owner who was returning to Great Britain permanently from India in 1959 . I have constantly been using it throughout the year since 1959 and it has never ONCE let me down in my life or my 10 year career as a professional shikaree ( from 1961 to 1970 ) .
Aside from the standard table fare , it has also helped me account for ( among other things ) :
> 21 Forest Panthers
> 15 gaur bison ( using only double lung shots taken from a broadside position )
> 20 Asian Sloth Bears

I also used it to deliver the killing shot on 11 royal Bengal tigers which had been wounded by my clients ( although , I can claim no credit for this , because the brutes were already fatally wounded and close to death from gun shots inflicted by my clients , before I delivered the killing shot . )

This grand old gun has afforded me the greatest sport and adventures for the last 61 years and it remains 1 of my most prized possessions. In the last 61 years , I have taken EXTREMELY good care of this old shot gun and have not even let a single scratch befall it . As of 2020 , it is still keeping its owner perfectly content .

I have hung up my boots and uniform. My old beauties are also reminders of a goneby era in India. Time for me to part with them.
From top.
1. 425 Westley Richards manufactured 1919, restocked, original buffalo horn foreend and grip cap. The bore is as good as can possibly be for a 100yo rifle. Excellent condition. Ready for Africa.
2. 375 Holland and Holland manufactured 1924, restocked to exact duplicate of the original. Has been used but still shoots accurate.
3. 300 Holland and Holland, manufactured 1929 original stock, new buttpad. Has been used but in good condition and shoots accurate
4. 450 NE for Rigby 3 1/4 inch cartridge manufactured in c.1911 by James Purdey sold by Lyon and Lyon Calcutta, restocked. The bore is as good as new. Excellent condition, needs some trigger pull work.

You can send me a PM if interested. I have more pictures which i can share.
Thanks

Beautiful indeed. Notice the difference in the drop at heel of the three stocks, perhaps these were fitted to customers or were they just different styles adopted by a manufactures's tastes?

I recently had the pleasure of shouldering a Farquarson that had been built up on an old original action. The fit to me was absolutely perfect in every way, lop, cast, drop. Front sight in the centre of the V and at the exact right height. I didn't fire it so couldn't say if that alignment was true to shot, but clearly a lot goes into setting up open sights that also fit.
