COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

So now there are thousands of people worldwide that have contracted the virus and their bodies have overcome it, what we would call recovered. So have these people developed an immunity to it? Do they have an antibody in their system that could be isolated and synthesized for use as a vaccine?

Stopped in at Costco for gas this morning on way home from work and you couldn't park in the place-wait in line for a cart and inside the store was crazy. NO paper products whatsover and water bottles going fast, people filling carts with whatever they thought they could use. I just got paid so bought stuff my four kids go through regularly. Not sure if its the two week quarantine scaring people or exactly what. Ive seen a strong storm warning do the same to other parts of the country. Maybe some panic helps us to be better prepared for all the wierd things that come our way.

America had tested less than 8,000 as of yesterday. Evidently we now have the capability of testing 22,000 per day now. Hopefully we are starting to get in front of this.

Typical reactive instead of pro active. If CDC had jumped on this as soon as it appeared and started testing all travelers returning or coming to this country they might have curtailed the spread here at home. But as per usual they dismissed it until we have a mini crisis. Now they scramble to do what should have been done at first sign.

I'm wondering if there is some double-counting on the chart. Wouldn't State of California Public & Private labs include all of those above in California such as Stanford, SF, SD & LA?

Hubei province, Iran, Korea, and Italy have 77% of the confirmed cases and 93% of deaths.

each of these locations (and USA too) have almost 10x the number of confirmed cases as the next highest province or country in the region.

it’s like of the region categories WHO uses have ONE outlier that makes the others look like rookies.

what could explain why only one country in a region has so many cases??

In January until mid February there were a few good twitter accounts in China that provided great information that was completely different from the Chinese news media. Unfortunately those locations are gone and the posters probably arrested or worse.

I am thankful EVERY day that McConnell is there as Sen Majority Leader! First of all I believe in gridlock. Gridlock is good, it keeps lawmakers from making too many laws for us to live by and them to ignore and exempt themselves from.
And most importantly he has helped usher thru many, many judges to the courts including SCOTUS that may in time be enough to return some level of common sense to the judicial. Right now its still a matter of, "if Trump does it, its illegal and must be stopped", at least in many lower courts especially the 9th Circus in San Fran Sicko. But its getting better with some of the judges Trump has been able to get into the courts. If that lunatic Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg would retire or croak Trump would get another pick for SCOTUS and then be able to roll back some of the crap the court has allowed.
Pelosi and Chuck U Schumer are not just useless, they are open border, anti American traitors, and enemies of Freedom, no other way to put it. And that would also include most of the well known demtards if not all of them. They hate America, and despite their attempts to derail Sanders, again, his vision for America is very close to theirs.
They have been trying to get Trump out of office since before the election and have used whatever means they could come up with, legal and illegal. This Covid scare is just the latest means to try to discredit Trump in hopes of destroying his presidency and the harm it does to America does not matter to them at all, and yes I do believe that. Remember what Rambo Emanuel said, "never let a good crisis go to waste".

It’s ALWAYS bureaucratic management by crisis! “Let’s wait and see what happens, then we’ll act?” Too late this time! Whether the virus is a threat or not to the majority of the people living here in the U.S. , PANIC and pending financial disaster have already set in. I blame this partly on the media and the mindset of some/a lot of people who “can/will do and go wherever they want and to hell with everyone else!” They traveled to known virus infected areas because they could, and are STILL coming back to the U.S. sometimes with little or no screening for the virus.

Research team has isolated the COVID-19 virus

A team of researchers from Sunnybrook, McMaster University(opens in a new window) and the University of Toronto(opens in a new window) has isolated severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the agent responsible for the ongoing outbreak of COVID-19.

Thanks to nimble collaboration, the team was able to culture the virus from two clinical specimens in a Level 3 containment facility.

“We need key tools to develop solutions to this pandemic. While the immediate response is crucial, longer-term solutions come from essential research into this novel virus,” said Dr. Samira Mubareka, microbiologist and infectious diseases physician at Sunnybrook.

The isolated virus will help researchers in Canada and across the world develop better diagnostic testing, treatments and vaccines, and gain a better understanding of SARS-CoV-2 biology, evolution and clinical shedding.

“Researchers from these world-class institutions came together in a grassroots way to successfully isolate the virus in just a few short weeks,” said Dr. Rob Kozak, clinical microbiologist at Sunnybrook. “It demonstrates the amazing things that can happen when we collaborate.”

Dr. Arinjay Banerjee, NSERC post-doctoral fellow at McMaster University, said he knows the collaboration won’t stop there.

“Now that we have isolated the SARS-CoV-2 virus, we can share this with other researchers and continue this teamwork,” he said. “The more viruses that are made available in this way, the more we can learn, collaborate and share.”

Just another reason to love Canadians!

We just hit the TP motherload! Sadly we actually needed TP but at some point you feel embarrassed buying it as one doesn’t want to be considered a panic buyer.
I find it insane that here in Amarillo we are experiencing the TP shortage of doom. I truly thought my fellow Amarilloans had enough sense to not buy into this garbage. Apparently I was wrong. I spent many years as a policeman here in Amarillo and while I certainly dealt with my fair share of morons I always considered the average Amarilloan as reasonably intelligent, apparently I was putting too much faith in people.
