As long as we are discussing Africa and siblings, even the great King Mufasa has a brother named Scar...

Welcome to AH Richard I hope to use the Afton House again on my next trip.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes that is correct we are the new owners of Afton Safari Lodge. There have been a few teething hiccups but we are ironing these out as they pop up. Look forward to seeing and hosting you hunters in Joburg and we hope you like the changes!

Welcome to AH Richard!

Welcome Richard.....we are glad to have you here at AH!

For those unaware of the facts, it is important to set the record straight. I am not a member of AfricaHunting.com and have never had any of these comments brought to my attention, either for comment, or a ‘right of reply,’ until I found out about them today – one day after American Independence!

My brother is a wildlife trafficker, smuggler of falcon eggs and is certainly guilt of breaking the laws of what we believe to be critical in the world of conservation. I do not, and did support it in any way.

After he was convicted in 2010 and served his time in an English prison, he had no job and returned to Africa after having lived abroad for 10 years. Having published a variety of conservation titles and the African Hunting Gazette, in particular, I knew I was running a risk having his association with my business, but my decision was based on the following:

· He had served his time (and if one believes in the correction service system, people should be allowed to continue their life – I was wrong!)

· His range of services for a division of the magazine was very restricted and limited, and to be honest, very useful.

· And he was my brother

I disclosed this to the media, way back in 2013 when he was rendering a service to the company. He never ran anything, let alone the Visited and Verified Program. The only person running anything is me, and we are a team here.

Pressure mounted and we all know that perceptions are everything and so I parted my professional relationship with my brother in 2014. Since then, he long longer has had any role, direct or indirect with the African Hunting Gazette. The business is still 100% mine. I am the publisher and the only reason it is what it is, is because of the team involved. So while some may decide to terminate their subscription, owing to the facts above, I am really sorry you feel like that, would love you to reconsider, but I respect your decision either way. Thank you. Richard Lendrum – Publisher
SEE YOU AT YOUR PLACE NEXT YEAR.

Welcome to AH Richard, I used the Afton House in 2016 and hope to do so in the future.

Welcome Richard

Richard ,
Welcome.
See ya in a couple months....

Welcome Richard,
I anticipate each issue of the gazette, very high quality. Kim Gattone at African Oasis in Dillon, MT is an incredible lady any you are fortunate to have her on your team!
Congratulations on acquiring the Alton House.
Cheers,
Cody

I was sorry the third time!
Is there no place in your thoughts to give a criminal a chance after doing his time.
Trust me I will have to pay for it for the rest of my life. One thing I have learnt is do not believe all that you read. I always prefer to talk directly with someone than behind their backs or especially on a medium such as this!
My New York instinct tells me your full of crap. I've known many people unfortunately in my life that are repeat offenders in many forms, and I can tell you they are only Sorry they got caught. The lure of making a fast buck and the adrenaline rush they get for doing risky things absorbs their lives. I feel this is your way too. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope for your sake I am. You want to prove yourself? Go do something to truly help wildlife and not just yourself.

Me and my rather large family stayed at the Afton House on June 9th of this year. I have not stayed there since 2007. I can enthusiastically say that changes being made are for the better. Engee and the staff were wonderful and really made the family feel special. They really went out of their way to create memories for my kids they will not soon forget. I look forward to my next stay!

The thread title is really unfortunate. Perhaps Afton Safari Lodge should have its main conversation somewhere that doesn't start off with such a horrible subject line.
