I grew up small game hunting and hunting whitetails with both bow and gun. Friends of my wife and I went to Africa and when I saw the trophies and heard the stories I was hooked. We, [my wife and I and our 3 sons ages 8,10, and 12 at the time] took our first safari. We went to Namibia in 2007. With a successful small business we have been fortunate enough to go to South Africa 3 times and Zimbabwe once. We are truly hooked on Africa.

In South Africa we have hunted with Marupa Safaris twice. They are big supporters of our SCI chapter, [Michigan Chapter], and have really been great to hunt and tour with. They have their own properties in Limpopo and the Northern Cape and also offer a very reasonable Krueger Park package. Our PH in Namibia died in a plane crash a couple months after we hunted with him. Our PH from Zimbabwe isn't hunting in Zim much anymore.

Hi Quacker Attacker. Welcome to a fantastic hunting website. I noticed you are passionate about hunting AND conservation. Conservation is not a topic too often discussed on this site but it is very important in Africa as well as the rest of the world. While hunting plays an important part of conservation in Africa, there are other spectacular ways to work with African wildlife as well as hunt. My wife and I do both, yearly. One can be involved in everything from lion and giraffe capture, to monitoring and dehorning rhinos. We normally work with wildlife for 2 months yearly and hunt for 1 week. It's a great way to actually learn about animal behavior and wildlife conservation in Africa. Photo safaris are fun, but working with experts in the wildlife field in Africa is absolutely amazing !!! Give me a shout if WORKING with African wildlife and research people is of interest to anyone.

Hi Tom, Didn't know you were on this forum. You took care of the importing of my wife and my trophies this year, including the giraffe in this picture. You did a great job for us. Looking forward to seeing you at the Michigan SCI fundraiser.
