Hi Everyone,
I’m excited to be here! We are looking to book a Namibia Hunt specifically for Kudu and Gemsbok in 2021. I’m looking for recommendations of taxidermists and thoughts on getting the animals (hides and horns) shipped back home. I’ve read a bunch of comments on different posts but am still unsure. I call Wisconsin home so any thoughts or experiences on African taxidermists in the Midwest along with outside resources anyone has had great successes with would be greatly appreciated.

You can definately get hold of @TROPHY SHIPPERS all of my clients that has used them had only good things to say about them. They make the process simple for you as the client!!

Enjoy your hunt you will love Africa!!!!

My best

Welcome to AH. There will be plenty of suggestions.
Enjoy the planning.

I've had great service from Safari Specialty Importers for my last three hunts.

I had a good experience with Hunters international for shipping. I’ve used SSI and I’ve used Coppersmith and Fauna and flora, all do a great job is just the prices differ. As far as taxidermy goes that’s a very personal choice. For me when I choose a taxidermist here’s my criteria, COMMUNICATION! I hate when I can’t get a call back timely, quality of work of course!, and time frame. There are several good taxidermists here as sponsors and I recently used one of them and was happy with results. My last safari which included my leopard in my avitar went to someone I’ve used in the past with fantastic results. PM me if you’d like details.

Giday and welcome to the A H forums Jeremy

I've had good service from SSI and Coppersmith. SSI is a little more full service but higher priced. Both get the job done. And for the actual shipping out of Africa, the owner of Africa Hunting Gazette has started a shipping company and offers the best deals I have found recently. AHG Shipping.

I might add you likely want your stuff shipped to Chicago and Coppersmith has a good connection there. Be sure to ask so you can avoid extra land shipping from New York or Texas.

Robert Utne of Wild Images in Motion is the best I have found as far as a taxidermist. He is in Savage Minnesota so depending where you are in Wisconsin, might be reasonably handy.

Hi Mike!

I did get your message and I think my reply may have gone to your junk email by chance? that happens from time to time. I saw your reply on the forum about no response. If you are available by phone tomorrow I'd love to chat and get some details from you! Please check your AH inbox!

Best Regards,
Tom

Didn’t he also buy Africa Sky?

Hello, I’d love to help you and I am in the states. I am also USDA certified so I can take trophy crates directly with no issues. I work with several import companies and we can get you fixed up beginning to end with top quality work!

I dont know where in WI you are but I'd have trophy shippers get it to Chicago and have Stehlings in Johnson Creek run down and pick it up and do the work. JMO

Best of luck I'm in south central Wisconsin.

I believe it's the Afton Safari lodge he owns as well as the magazine with the recent inclusion of the shipping.

Justin
You’re correct. I met him on my flight over a couple of years ago.
Thanks for the correction!

From my personal experiences...

Get them mounted back home. I can highly recommend Ingwe Taxidermy in Namibia to handle your trophies. And Namibia Safari Services were excellent to deal with for shipping and economical too.

Avoid Trophaendienste Taxidermy like the plague. They destroyed all the skins from our first safari through non existent quality control.

Highly recommended Trophy Shippers for handling your import. Tom was always available when I had questions and handled everything. Erik at Top of Texas Taxidermy is doing all my mounts and will work with you to make sure they are just as you wish.
