For Sale Heym 88B-Safari Rifle – 450/400

Since the 3" & 3.25" are completely different and the 3.25 was designed for Black Powder I'd be confident to say that this rifle is for the 3" but I await the sellers response.

Good thing I am left handed to help me restrain myself from deals like this.

Lovely, but too rich for my blood. I'll never own a double. If I tried, the wife would use it on me!
I thought that as well, but now I own 2 Heym 88's!! However I take the bus to work now, cause I sold my truck.....o_O

You sold a depreciating asset for an appreciating asset...honestly it is sound financial advice.

I like that!! Here is my .470NE Upgraded wood and Engraved!! And yes I bought it off of Gunsamerica last year hence the photos from there..

My other one is almost identical, in .500NE.. I took my .416 Rigby and my .500 NE to the Selous this past year shot 2 old buffs with each... This .470 is going to make it's first outing maybe this year to Zimbabwe!!

Never Say Never. If you do then karma will present you with a once in a lifetime deal

I know it is over 10 lbs, and has to be, but the rifle really looks nimble. Seems it would shoulder like well fit bird gun.

honestly, this is an under appreciated answer on this forum. Never owning a double is a much happier position for a hunter than owning a junk double that’s unreliable.

the bottom floor on doubles that are safe and reliable seems to be blaser-krieghoff-heym and then it rolls into the British stuff.

In my independent straw poll of double owners 5 years after purchase, I’ve found ZERO that were happy with their “economy” doubles.

save your money, buy a trusty 375 magazine rifle and go hunt. Doubles are great, but not worth domestic problems with a spouse or buying a half-ass one that doesn’t work.

For those that ARE contemplating a double, please buy one like the ad here, a good used Heym. Spend a little more and get a better used gun rather than dropping $6500-$8500 on something that you can’t trust your life with.

That sounds like solid advice. But I was surprised by the price tags on some of the production bolt actions. They were up there in the $8k-$9k range. I think I could have a nice once built for less than that.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
