Christian arms 6.5 creedmore

Gents , I have the opportunity to purchase the above gun. Anyone have any experience with this combo? Don’t know much about the manufacturer other than on line reviews.

Which model from CA? A friend of mine has had exceptional results with the .300 WM in the Ridgeline. He has helped set up close to a dozen of them and they seem to be 1/2 MOA rifles for the most part. Generally been a good rifle and I'd expect the 6.5 CM to be as good. I also hear good things about the Mesa. A few yrs ago CA seemed to be a little more spotty on some of their rifles. The last couple of yrs they seem to have things worked out pretty good. Likely be a good one to buy.

Christensen Arms? The one with the ram logo? If so, buy it. I have a Mesa in 6.5 Creedmoor that is a tack driver. Also have a 300 WM that is the softest shooting 300 WM I've shot. A buddy at the deer club has a 7mm RM that also is a tack driver.

Haven't taken game with my 6.5 CM yet, but I can imagine how well it will do given my excellent experience with my 6.5x55 - they are essentially ballistic twins when handloaded.

Have you guys found scope mounting to be an issue? I’ve read some negative reports the bolt handle lift is very high and may be an issue with some of the European style eye pieces necessitating the need for higher rings to get the bolt to clear.

I’ve been searching for my next rifle in 300 WM and CA was high on the list but concerned my Leica 3-12x50 would cause me to use high rings, ie cheek weld issues.

As far as the needmore there are s lot better cartridges out there

It’s the ridgeline model. It would predominantly be a deer gun. Since I have a 270 wsm and a 300 wsm and a 375 ruger I really don’t need it but it’s raised my curiosity. My understanding is you can use Remington 700 bases to mount a scope. I would like to use the Hornady 143 eld-x ammo. It’s a used gun their asking $900 for it so it don’t seem like a bad deal. Friend of mine here works at Cabelas and told me it looks like a good piece. Gonna look at it Thursday.

Yes Shockey is now pushing CA. If that is a Ridgeline then BUY IT! Retail is about $1790-$1890 new and the used ones in a popular caliber are bringing $1400 or more. If you don't like it you can resell it for a profit at that price. Yes the Rem 700 bases work. You should be fine with the bolt handle and scope. Nice little cartridge that works just fine for deer and antelope.

creedmOOr, named after the famous range in the 1870s near new York.
so named after the swampy piece of land purchased from farmer creed, known as creeds moor.
the 6.5 creedmoor was designed for shooting at the same ranges as the great creedmoor matches between the brits, americans, and even oz sent a team for the 1876 centennial match.
shooting there was the tipping point between muzzle and breech loaders.

Yes. I had a buddy that bought one last year in 375H&H and I mounted a Trijicon 1-6 on it for him. Medium rings should've been sufficient, but we had to go up to the super high rings to clear the bolt. Other than that issue, the gun is a tack driver and a pleasure to shoot.

The below pic is the medium rings and as you can see it is very tight. However, when you would crank it up to 6x, the bolt would hit.

Thanks guys. Ya I’ll look at it Thursday he’s holding the gun in the vault with my name on it. I’d like to sell my Hill Country built 270 wsm to them so as to absorb some costs. If they give me a decent price I’ll buy the CA.

This is definitely true, at least in my experience. Had to use high rings (Warne) on my 300WM for my Zeiss eyepiece (HD5 3-15x50) to clear bolt handle, when medium rings would have worked with the objective bell. To compensate, I mounted a padded buttstock ammo holder and that combo works very well. My 300WM has the receiver with the picatinny bases machined into the receiver.

For my Mesa 6.5 CR, I used medium DNZ ring/base combo (two piece - my favorite scope mounts) and the bolt will clear the eyepiece (not by much) of the Burris Veracity 3-15x50 scope on it. This one accepts the same bases as Rem 700.

Ok boy’s slight change of question. On Saturday I went up to North Georgia with a friend to an open house for a local booking agent. At the open house the sheriff’s department was auctioning off a Bergara ridge rifle in 6.5 creedmore. Just got the call I was the lucky high bidder. Now has anyone had any experience with Bergara rifles?

Johnny, I don't own one but last year I was out on a range where a "long range precision shooter" (at least according to him) was shooting his 6.5 Creedmore Bergara off a lead sled. I watched him shoot several soccer ball sized groups before I asked for a cease fire. I posted my target and shot 3 rounds without sandbags etc. that measured less than an inch. I asked for a cease fire after a bit and we went down to change targets. I couldn't help but tell the young fellow (30 something) that he just had his but kicked by a 76 year old man shooting a 120 year old rifle. In case you 're curious it was my first 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser. My advice, keep your connection to the Christian Arms rifle and shoot your prize as quickly as possible. You may want to sell it instead of your Hill Country 270.

JB, I don't have any first hand experience with Bergara rifles, but I have read that they are super accurate as well. BTW, did you buy the CA rifle?

I have low profile rings on my CA Mesa, and I don't have any issues with the bolt being too close to my scope. It's a recent purchase, but I have no complaints while shooting it thus far.
