How has Everyone’s Hunting Season at Home been?

Not a bad deer season but my season is coming up......turkey is around the corner.

I didn't get a lot of time to hunt this year, and didn't find any shooters with my bow, but did get a small eight point whitetail with my rifle. I swore I was going to get more into coyote hunting this year, but haven't been out yet.
 
Enjoyed hunting whitetails in South Dakota this past fall. My fifty second season without missing a year. Started in 1967 at age twelve. Shoot one of the bucks that we had lots of trail camera pics of during the summer. Got him at sunup on day three of the season. November 25. Love it when a plan comes together.

I mean there are a lot of things in Canada I want to shoot as well. I am open to ideas.
 
After the acorns dropped in November, the deer around our place went to almost 100% nocturnal - weather didn't matter, moon phases didn't matter, the rut didn't matter. This was the worst deer season in my memory, and I've been deer hunting the same place for 38 years.

shot this little cull last night. Good to get him out of the gene pool. Now if the big boy I’m watching on camera will just come out in the daytime...

Only shot a couple of does (Roe deer) so far. And the usual small game on some driven hunts.
The is my second year of owning a hunting license.
 
Like others have said..the acorns in our area made for the fewest deer we've seen in years. Watched many deer get out of bedding areas walk to oak trees feed for 20 mins and return to bedding areas. I wasn't able to see any of the bucks I was chasing in day light. My 9 year old son was getting pretty frustrated as well, he had a big mature buck at 20 yards opening weekend of bow season only to have him bolt when he stood up to get behind his cross bow. Opening weekend of rifle season he had a second mature buck in the cross hairs for several minutes only to have legal shooting light end before he could get a broad side shot... Fast forward to this past weekend the end of the extended youth season here in Texas he had a nice 8 come into the oat field with just a few minutes of shooting light left on Friday; unfortunately, he stayed at the south end of the field and he never got a shot. However! Saturday evening he returned very early in the evening and after leaving the field to check some does he returned at about 5:20 to within 80 yards. He fed facing us for a couple minutes. Grayson was getting anxious, I could hear his breathing and his legs were shaking...I told him to take a break, take a couple deep breaths and relax..this was just like last year. He got back in the scope and the deer turned to our right and took a few steps...I told him when he stops come straight up the leg halfway up to his back and squeeze....he said, "ok, im going to shoot"...I repeated squeeze, squeeze, squeeze...BOOM...Whop. The buck dropped down, spun away running for the creek getting ever closer to the earth as he ran...as he cross the road into the cedars I could see him tearing up the ground then one of the cedars shake violently back and forth...I said, "you got him bub". He was so excited.. he said lets go get him! We packed up our stuff and he began to run across the oat field...I said hey lets go get the truck and drive over there! He was jumping up and down. The season was long and slow, but it will forever be remembered by two people as a very special season and the long and slow will soon be forgotten.
