Politics

^^^^^^ Included in the "State" I'm sure he meant it encompasses the government, business, and the populace . They all have equal shares of being corrupt with most being in the business world and by extension the government.

Somewhat OT, but Boeing's pants are now down around their ankles with the latest 737 MAX revelations.

If the government which exists in a society is fairly anemic and limited, it really doesn't matter a whole lot what businesses and the general population do (so long as they are not committing violence/theft/fraud). Without a sanction from the state, ADM actually makes products people want to buy, or they go out of business. When we have congresscritters accepting bribes, and horrifically ignorant bureaucrats on moral crusades to support them, we end up having ADMs doing what they're doing.

It's a human cycle. All civilizations, governments, nations and cultures rise and fall. We all just hope we can delay it for a generation or two. Then it falls on those that follow. One thing is for sure, the failure is inevitable.

ADM has their ethanol business on the block. The politics don't suit it. In the process of divesting, you can bet the CEO will get a huge payout as a result.

Milton Friedman gave a speech in 1973 titled can Leviathan be stopped. In it one of the lines I recall was that people seek two things in governmental laws and programs. they either want the government to do something FOR them, or they want the government to do something AGAINST someone else. Virtually every law and budgetary expenditure can be placed in one or the other category. Company A wants tariffs on similar products that are imported, so that the domestic products (company A's) will be competitive pricewise. So tariffs accomplish both aspects. Or the govt sets speed limits so that those others are not allowed to drive so fast. Or there is a subsidy to someone- food, housing, travel, healthcare- all forms of the govt doing something FOR someone.

the next time you see the govt doing something, ask yourself is what the govt doing helping me or some other person/company? or is it a means of limiting the freedoms of someone?

I guess I’m out of style, I just want the government to protect our country, protect personal liberties and property, provide critical infrastructure, and stay out of our way!

Phase 1 trade deal with China is signed today.

USMCA looks to be signed within the week.

Look for trade negotiations to start with the EU shortly.

It has taken three years but things are getting done. Who says targeted tariffs don't work.

Donald Trump, Wilbur Ross, Steve Mnuchin, Robert Lighthizer, and Peter Navaro have been absolutely amazing. Other than Trump, the average American probably doesn't recognize any other names, even though the average American will now earn hundreds of thousands of dollars more in their working career because of these fine men.

There has never been a more knowledgeable or tenacious bunch of trade hounds. My hat is off to all of you!

Lots of folks, although they all seem to have been unusually quiet lately.... :E Hmmm:

Those omnipotent moral busybodies seem not to be able to distinguish (or do not care about) the difference between those things we cannot do for ourselves (law enforcement, military, courts, and the like) and those we are unwilling to do, or at least resent the shit out of being forced to do it, even if we would have done it anyway. The latter always benefit some at the expense of others; whereas the former are a benefit to all in equal measure.

The arrogance (and ignorance) of these moral crusaders is utterly mind-boggling in scope.

Week and a half ago on this thread, we were talking about WWIII starting due to Trump taking out Soleimani.

I went to DSC and didn't pay attention to the news for a few days. Did I miss WWIII?:(

WWIII happened Bob, but it was short, and Africa won't be invited to the next one.

Clip attached in case you'd like to watch the entire war.

Trial has started. Roberts and Senators are being sworn in. If this is not dismissed for lack of cause off hand, it will be epic.

Democrats have three primary goals.
1. Make judicial appointments revocable at some date in the future when there is a Democratic president and senate, since Trump was impeached and an "illegitimate" leader.
2. Get all corrupt Republican senators to join them in the impeachment. I doubt there are more than a handful, but who knows.
3. Dirty up Trump to help the democratic candidate win the 2020 election.

Roberts certainly has the ability to influence the trial. His decisions on The Affordable Care Act and the Census certainly came out of left field. Pun intended. The Senate however, determines the rules of the trial. The key may be the corrupt Republican senators, but I doubt it.

If Trump has the opportunity to call all the witnesses he wants, and get complete testimony from them, America is in for a shock. The nation is not prepared for what will be said. American aid goes out to the world. Millions are skimmed off and come back to the politicians and their minions. The corrupt wealthy of the world have controlled the puppet strings of the politicians for far to long. The American tax payer is stuck with the bill.

It probably won't happen, but don't be surprised if Trump takes the stand. If he does take the stand, look for him to be there for at least two weeks, unraveling everything that happened in the Obama administration and before, including the Clinton Foundation. If you are a Republican and feeling relieved, don't. It goes into the Bush administration as well.

If this all happens, the 2020 election becomes a route and the Democratic party may go the way of the Whigs. They would at least become irrelevant for 10+ years.

Tune in Tuesday. The greatest corruption scandal in the history of America and the world is about to be exposed as long as the case is not dismissed.

The swamp around the world has been draining for the last couple of years. The corruption indictments and convictions are piling up. The curtain will be drawn back in America starting next week.

"They never thought she could loose"

Look for Durham to start unsealing indictments within a couple of months of the end of this trial. Obviously I could be wrong, but the tea leaves seem to be aligning perfectly.

We live in the best of times!
