In memoriam - Pieter Erasmus from Pawprint Safaris passed away

Very sad news indeed. My prayers and condolences to family and friends. RIP Pieter!

Very, very sad news! My sincere condolences and prayers to the family. I had the pleasure of hunting with him in June last year. He was great company and it was easy to see that he was also a family man who loved his kids dearly (they were in camp throughout my hunt). Such a terrible thing for his family to endure, but with God's grace I hope they find the strength in coming to terms with this tragedy - and in finding a measure of peace.

"Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill."

Tim

A much happier time when he came to visit.

Pieter's first Snow Angel.

Condolences to his family, children, and friends. May he rest in peace.

Condolences to the family

Our sincerest condolences to Pieter and his family from all of us here at Bayly Sippel Hunting Safaris. He will be missed in the hunting community and was a legend in his own right!

May he be on one never ending safari in heaven!

RIP

Very sorry to hear this. Condolences to his family.

One more post for me... Thanks for the memories Pieter!
Praying for the family and for the peace and comfort of the Lord's loving arms to help getting through this time!

I awoke Sunday morning to three WhatsApp messages from Spike. T, Johan van Wyk and Pieter's ex-girlfriend Colleen letting me know that he'd passed. I had become more and more concerned as my messages to him went unanswered. His friendship meant a lot to me.
Norfolk Shooter and I stopped by the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery to see my wife before we headed to the airport. It was harder this time with the loss of a friend to the same type of cancer. The world is less with the loss of a true gentleman. I'm glad that I got to hunt with him in May. I feel sorry for those who will never have the chance to.
This is still one of my favorite pictures of Pieter, before he knew about the cancer and was still strong. May you roam the green hills of Africa in peace, my friend.

one of my favorite photos.....Pieter was as thrilled for me as I was!

Very sorry to learn of this. I never knew he was dealing with this. Terrible. As @johnnieblues said.... I hate cancer. Nevertheless, he was a very respectful contributor to AH & had nothing but positive remarks reported about him. Condolences to his loved ones & friends

It saddens me to hear this. I saw the post on FB shortly afterwards. I didn’t know Pieter but chatted with him a few times on here. Everyone I ever have talked to that knew him and hunted with him always spoke very highly of Pieter. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

One thing I really liked about Pieter was his ready and wicked sense of humour!! One day I got a photo of him, and then mercilessly pulled his leg about him being "The Great White Hunter!!":

He, not to be out-done, neatly turned the tables - and took this - and then ragged me about being a "Great White Hunter - Indeed!!!"

I really enjoyed his company, as he was a great guy. It's a pity I won't get to hunt with him anymore.

Pieter took me and my son Bryson to lunch the day we finished up the elephant hunt! He was still giddy about the success of the hunt.
Little did I know that day that I would hunt with him three more times.
