So I was waiting for some wood to come in to create the back walls and the pedestals. Once it arrived I had to clear my schedule. When I start a project it has to be completed. So my African animals are now in there permanent spot. My two white tail bucks are still sitting on a temporary dvd stand. I shot a awesome elk in 2018. And still have not got my mount back. I'm waiting to place him before making the deer permanent.

All the African animals were done by umlindi taxidermy in tarkestaad. I had a previous post saying the work is not amazing, but it's not bad either. Considering it was less than half the cost of doing it locally. I can't complain. They were a pleasure to deal with. Packaged everything very well to make sure that there was no damage. And again their pricing was very good. Don't mind the fox. He's not African. He's from my backyard lol.

The water buffalo and axis deer are from Argentina.

All the African animals are from Hunters Hill Safaris.

All the white tails are from within 1 mile of my house. All taken with a bow. Only the one next to me my tv is from my friends place in Texas.

Don't mind the little bear and little buck. Those were both my firsts. From when I was a teenager. And I won't ever let them go.

Enjoy

Well done. I like the wood and really like the way you planned the turns on the various mounts to fit the spaces well. I'm curious about the story behind the fox? ( Did you trap it , call it, hounds, or just the right place at the right time?)

I call coyotes almost every weekend from Jan 1 through end of March. Need to do my part to help the deer herd. Our winters are so harsh plus the coyotes are so overpopulated. I go on a rampage all winter. But Ocasionally foxes come in as well.

The man cave is looking good!

Thanks for sharing, looking good!

I zoomed in on the impala and kudu. I would be very happy with that work.

I take it the pedestal is just slipped in underneath the shoulder mount attached to the wall? A fine choice when you don't know where things are going to go or if you question if you even like pedestals

Yes for the most part you won't see the errors from the way I mounted them. But I could almost on every animal zoom in to sides, top, bottom etc where you would see bald spots where they put like a paint or something to cover it. Visible stitching etc. Again I would score it all like 7 out of 10. But by no means am I not happy with the mounts and I will proudly mount them. But again those patch jobs and stitches would never be seen on my local guys work. But totally ok with it.

The Sable and zebra pedestals? If those are what your referring to. They came with a 1 1/4" pipe sticking out the bottom. So I simply built the frame out of 2x4 and cladded it with a barn board. Directly under the pedestal there are 2 2x4 that are going across the center braced in. And I drilled a 1 1/4" holes into the 2x4. So one 2x4 at the top and one at the bottom to keep the mount stable. And it just slides in and out like a flagpole.

Nice trophies and set up.

Some of those mounts fit so perfectly that you'd swear you built the house around them! Did you give exact measurements to Cecil for the Gemsbok or did he(you) just luck out that much?
Who did the work on the animals from Argentina?
Good work on the wall and pedestals. You really made it your own!

No I honestly had completely different plans when I ordered the turns etc. So I can't pretend like I'm that good at planning. When everything arrived last week. I quickly realized African animals don't have ground shrinkage or taxidermy shrinkage. Just the opposite actually.... So when it got in the house I realized my original idea was completely delusional and no way everything would fit. So I started rearranging everything. Trying things in different spots etc. And came up with what I got.

So the African wall, Sable, and the walk out door area with gemsbok and blesbok are all good to go. The TV wall is also good to go. That long wall with a mish mash of deer, buffalo, ducks, etc. That's all going to be rearranged still. Again I have a elk and a red stag coming. The stag I won't see until Christmas for sure. But the elk is any day now. And once it arrives I'll play with that wall and make it look better. That buffalo might be moved to an entirely different area.

I do not recall the dip and pack company to be honest. I'm sure I can find it though. It was back in 2012 if I remember right. But I did not send it to my normal guy here in Canada. I had to send it to the us. It was a taxidermist near Grand rapids Michigan. For whatever reason it was easier and less expensive to import into the USA. Then I just drove down and picked it up myself. Only about 5 hours from me. Argentina is a total pain in the ass for shipping trophy's. And a lot of guys don't hunt big game there specifically because of that. Even paying triple what dip and pack costs in Africa. And paying triple for shipping then Africa. And sending it to USA as apparently it was easier. My buffalo arrived with tons of damage at the taxidermist. He did a great job fixing it as much as he could. I personally will never go back to Argentina. Maybe for a bird hunt.

Good looking mounts and nice woodwork. I like the little car by the door. Do you drive around in it to inspect your trophies (he says with a chuckle)?

I joke that when my girls have friends over. I'll drive them around like Jurassic park tour hahahah.

There ya go.

Looks great, the paint color is just right to show off the mounts (y)

Outstanding! The barn wood looks really nice!

Thank you, still have some finishing touches to complete around the electrical outlet, vacuum port and some edge trim. But that is going to have to wait until next weekend. Playoff football was on and I needed a beer.

WOW! Does he ever take up a lot of room!!
I'm glad you have him back and up. Looks great Buddy!
