Bushfires in Australia

It is an unfortunate result of green policy where the knowledgable forestry management who kept access roads open, fire breaks and forest floor liter cleared with tactical fire during the safe seasons have been replaced with complete hands off approach with the current disasterous results. Arsonists have been a huge cause along with lightening strikes with near 2000 homes lost, many people have perished or are missing and millions of animals dead.

The transformation in forest management sounds like it had its' roots in California, or maybe vice versa. Both locations had similar results.

Hope this rain helps!

Yep!
But of course now they’ll blame the federal government and not the policies of the various states
Also
Somehow Australia is the worst climate changer in the world even though we contribute only 1.3% of emissions!

But coal explorer number 1 on this globe and it's being burned up.

Saw on TV how the head of government handed out water bottles and begged for" good weather" ,since he preferred to fly on holiday rather than take care of the situation at home.
Thank God - he's handing out water bottles-
Politicians ........................
These are heartbreaking fates that happen in Australia through the fires.
So many homes destroyed and who knows if the insurance companies are even able to pay for it.Probably one after the other there will be go bankrupt with so many damage.

Donated to the fire department in New South Wales this week.
That's all I can do.
Hope the rain comes soon.
All the best from Munich

Now 1.25 billion animals killed.
I live 3-4000 kilometres away from the fires.
Australia -a land of sweeping plains + fires + floods + drought
Australian mainland is bigger than the USA contingent states as a comparison
Unfortunately koalas cannot run away from a fire as other animals do
This situation is just horrific

Devastating disaster for the Aussies. The loss of life and property is staggering. Hope the country heals well, when it is over.

What makes it even worse is that so much of it may have been largely avoidable so there is a great deal of anger mixed in with the great sympathy for those effected personally and collectively.

In Australia, fires expose green folly
By Viv Forbes
Australia is has seem some of the worst bush fires in its history. Greens blame climate change, but it's a cover-up. In reality, they have themselves to blame. From here in Australia, it can only be called green folly.

Green folly locked up 11% of Australia in a tinder-box of bushfire fuel, much of which is now burnt or burning.

Green folly closed forest tracks and gates, expelled foresters and timber-workers and prevented property owners from removing flammable fuel from their own land and adjacent roads, parks and forests. Those responsible for these follies should face Class Action.

Green folly promotes electric vehicles but not one fire truck, dozer, water bomber, helicopter, ambulance or naval vessel ran on batteries. They all used hydro-carbon fuels - diesel, petrol or avgas. And with so many power lines down, these electric toys could not have recharged their batteries anyway.

Green folly believed that widely scattered wind turbines, solar panels and their spider-webs of transmission lines would continue to produce power in gale-force firestorms and thick smoke. Many will be burnt. Blackouts are inevitable.

Green folly promotes “green” building materials like timber which add fuel to fires while using fake CO2 scares to denigrate steel and concrete which won’t burn.

For decades, green folly opposed every new dam proposal and wasted stored water on another Green folly, known here as “Environmental Flows.” Dams were emptied, farmers suffered, towns ran out of water, food prices increased and some fire-fighting water bombers had to take water from private dams.

It was criminal green folly that babbled on about “the climate emergency” while they sponsored forest conditions that caused agonizing deaths for so many innocents - residents, firefighters, livestock, koalas and other native animals, birds and insects.

Truly horrific. I used to work fires in northern Saskatchewan and have seen first hand what they can do. But this is on a scale far beyond anything I could have imagined. Truly brings tears to my eyes. There will be a special place in Hell for these arsonists.

Yep just like this from one of our dams here.. I took the pics as the big Sikorsky dropped the pot into the dam and didnt mind one bit at all.

Wish we could ship some of our monsoon rains your way! Been extremely wet and windy here of late.
My old dad loved Oz, he spent some time there during WWII and actually married a gal there! They were later divorced when she didn't want to come to the states after the war though. He always talked about going back but never did, he really hated to travel, especially by air.

Kind of like the "fact" that every country is warming twice as fast as every other country.
