What's a B-liner?

A B-liner is a nickname for the vermilion snapper or silky snapper. They are usually referred to as B-liners once the reach the larger 2lb. and up range...

Nice! I haven't fished for Perch since I was a kid in Minnesota.
They are great little fish. Very tasty. I’ve always wanted to go fishing in Minnesota or similar area...never caught Crappie or Bluegills. I think they would be fun too.

Looking back on 2019.... it was a pretty good fishing year locally (Montana) as well as several new firsts that were great adventures! First saltwater/bonefishing trip (Bahamas), first sturgeon trip (Columbia River in WA) - had to beach the 7 1/2' sturgeon and he didn't cooperate for photos. Learned some tips/tricks for lake fly fishing and doing a little fly tying...........(y) Locations are generalized, don't ask for specifics as I'm not at liberty to give those out  Lori

Another good day on the ice. Another batch of perch for a meal as well as an eater size pike. Also caught this fatty and one slightly smaller. They went back in the lake.

How did you like fishing the salt with a fly? My first trip was amazing. Such a different style of fishing than the (typically) blind cast. I found it so much more visual (the Bahamian guides have eyes like an osprey), spot and stalkish. Then there is the wind... Add in the drift of the boat and there are so many factors going on that it is hard to keep up with.

Glad you had a great fishing year!

Chukar, I loved it! A bit of a learning curve, spotting and stalking them on foot. We only did a boat/guide one day but nice to have that experience. Saw tarpon but didn’t have the right gear. Going back again in March, a good time to leave Montana and get some sun!

Wow, you saw some tarpon? That's really cool. I fished South Andros for my trips. Saw one permit on one trip and no tarpon. The camp/guides were set up for bones so the other species weren't really keyed on.

I hear you on escaping the dreary NW during the winter months, exactly the same time I escaped the SAD.

Don't know if you were on a purely fishing trip or fishing added on to a vacation trip, but if you do a trip for purely fishing, you might look at Kiritimati/Christmas island. Right on the equator, plenty of sunshine and plenty of fishing. In my opinion, the Bahamas is mainly focused on bonefish, CXI is like fishing in a saltwater aquarium. Triggerfish, plenty of bonefish (generally smaller than you would find in the Bahamas), milkfish, GT's, Wahoo offshore.

Accommodations are a bit more rustic than most places in the Bahamas, travel as I am sure you aware of is a bit limited. But the fishing is amazing....

May your 2020 fishing year be just as good!

Bahamas was strictly fishing and CXI is definitely on the list. A local group of gals went the past April and had a videographer with them and made a nice little film - it's previewing at the Denver fishing show this week. I've seen it and it was really cool - if I ever get a link to it then I'll post it. Those Triggerfish are crazy cool and they caught some big bones too! I'm OK with rustic if the fishing is good (y)

Right on and best of luck Lori. If and when you can find a link to that site, please do post it.

The wife hooked up on a rarely caught fish here in Saskatchewan this week...Goldeye!

Been awhile since I have posted but me and the boy have been on the water as much as possible with all that is going on in the world

Son stepped it up on his PB largemouth with a solid 6lber and I boated a solid 29” red right ahead of hurricane Hanna

Been a slow summer of fishing for me this year. Either too windy or when we do get on the boat we spend all the time dragging the kids behind on the tube. But I was able to get out a couple evenings this week.

Forgot the poles yesterday. Had to use our hands. This was the biggest. And yes, I live in Oklahoma.

Until this guy posts something on pay it forward free I would avoid him at all costs.

If it hasn't sold by next week I might be interested. Stock would have to be changed along with some other items. I'm already having a 416 Rigby built so money is a tad bit tight.

Hey pal! I'll take all the .375 bullets if they're available.
Thanks!
