Especially for Major Khan and Kawshik Rahman;

I just completed reading The Temple Tiger and More Man Eaters of Kumaon and will soon begin the second Jim Corbett Omnibus. Wonderful story teller and adventurer.

There is a wonderful variety of game to hunt in India and I suppose that you two gents have hunted them all.
However, I am not up to hunting tiger at night from a crude sit in a tree. :)

I grew up with those books, I could not tell you how many times I have read each of them!

And Kenneth Anderson sat at the bottom of the tree at night.... To think I'm worried about mosquitoes

I have never read a book by Jim Corbett , but i can imagine the sitting in a tree. Mosquitoes can be a problem.

I spent some nights in trees trying to shot a sambar deer in the jungle of Malaysia. You have to spend the night in the tree , with or without mosquitoes , because you cannot descend in the dark. Where there are sambar deers there are also tigers , ...and a few other dangerous animals.

It is a pity that the areas in south and south-east Asia are no longer accessible for hunting.

I am glad that you have read all the books written by Mr. Corbett , Crs. That gentleman was the definitive tiger hunter and l am a massive admirer of this gentleman since childhood. I practically grew up on his books . Below , l will list every Indian animal species which l have ever shot :
Royal Bengal Tiger
Village Panther
Forest Panther
Gaur
Indian Water Buffalo
Indian Bush Boar
Asian Sloth Bear
Ganges River Crocodile
Sambhur Deer
Cheetal Deer
Hog Deer
Barking Deer
Swamp Deer
4 Horned Buck
Black Buck
Mouse Deer
Chinkara
Neelgai
Black Buck

Cranes
Grey Leg Geese
Ducks ( assorted variety )
Indian Grouse
Partridge
Pigeon
Quail
Chukar
Ti Ti Pakhee bird
Jungle Fowl ( assorted variety )

I always wish l could have shot an Indian elephant , though.

Wyatt Smith,
You mentioned "Tree Tops".
That is the last story in The Second Jim Corbett Omnibus and I have just read it.

It is memorable and you will enjoy the read.

Major Khan,
That is quite a list of game species taken.
It is interesting that the spelling of some species names differs from the spelling in the USA, but the "English" spelling is close enough. The Nilgai is a good example. It is also interesting how many species seem well adapted to Texas as to India. The Blackbuck, Nilgai, Sambar , and Axis(Chital, spotted) seem to thrive here.

I have been a Jim C fan ever since as a kid from reading the tales in Readers Digest Condensed books.
Last week I purchased these three in one lot. Happy days of more reading to come.

TMELOR is a book that everyone must read. This edition has the most exquisite illustrations.
