Nicely done! love the small cats!!

I now need to get busy building a couple different pedestals, (A double for the Roan and waterbuck, one for the 3 springbuck, and one for the Black wildebeest) in addition end table and coffee table to go with the chairs ordered for the room. Didn't get a pic of the crate with my wife's croc in it.

Looking forward to seeing your wood work for the trophy room! Nice to hear your wife has part ownership to the room also!!!!

We got an early Christmas present of our trophy's from last year being delivered last Thursday. Yesterday we put up the new mounts. a box full of Christmas cheer

@Ridgewalker The night hunts are some of my favourite. And the night hunt my wife did on her bush pigs was one of her most treasured. However her croc was the highlight for her on that safari.

Looks great! I'm going to have to do that soon. As far as "offending antis" goes, this is who I am. If you don't like it, and can't find your way out, I'll help you find the door.

Early in our marriage I shot a big whitetail and had it mounted. When it was done I put it up in the family room. My wife questioned it worried that it might offend some visitors. I told her that was fine as anyone it offended wasn’t welcome in our home. Apparently she saw my logic as it hasn’t come up again in the last 35 years!

Great job. Enjoy your new space.

Awesome! Congrats on the newest additions, looks good!

You know what is curious? I have a daughter that is 27 and she has friends that are urban 'millenials' who find their way here on occasion. A lot of them are longing for a different sort of life, where you raise your own food, get back to nature etc. We had a young woman here of oriental extraction from Vancouver ( a hot bed of lefties if there ever was one) and she came and looked around the room ( the main floor is all open) at the kudu mount and the Oryx, the Euro mounts of the red hartebeest, warthog, and eland and zebra rug in the entry, including various skins and furs from North America and said "Wow! This cool! It's like being in a castle!"

One of my sisters came for a visit last summer. She's a hilly-bummer fan, quite liberal left and not a hunter by any stretch of the imagination. Didn't know how she would take my myriad trophies on the walls but ,surprisingly, she was interested in the stories of the hunts. A little apprehensive at first but when I explained that all the meat, etc. goes to the people, she was OK. She knows I am a hunter and have been all my life and as long as she was in my house she would have to tolerate my trophies. Had a nice visit.

My family and non hunting friends call my trophy room "^The deadhead room"

Thanks for sharing the build Dave.

I always get good ideas from these threads!

Now to just execute.... :)

We have had very positive comments from most all our friends, when my wife has her card group over to play they all think the mounts are find just that the Kudu was "ALWAYS looking at them. So when my wife asked what could we do to move things. Well the trophy room addition was hatched and I guess I owe them all a drink for helping create the addition. I really don't care if folks don't like it as it is our house and they can come or go as they wish. But we are very happy with the results and my wife has already claimed a spot on the wall where she wants to put her buffalo from upcoming 2020 safari.

Congratulations Dave, looks great. Don’t ya love those kind of early Christmas gifts!

@johnnyblues yes sir these are the best kinda presents. Now I just need to bag a spotted cat like yours (2021)

A update on pedestal progress. Finished the one for my wife's Black Wildebeest. It is made from the Beetle killed pine, sometimes called blue pine. Worked hard to keep the live edges with a little bark still on them for some character. I am almost finished with the one for the double mount (Roan and Waterbuck) but won't get it finished till after we get back from DSC. Looking for some ideas at DSC for the springbok trio mount.
