Does anyone have load Data for the 270 gr Speer hot Cor in 9.3x64 Brenneke? I'm unable to find any info for that particular weight using H4350 / AR 2209 powder. Any help appreciated.
Thanks Shawn

QL says 71,0gr of H, COL 2,520"..... rather mild load, 100 % filled case, but nontheless at your own risk.

2562 fps from a 25,6" barrel.

The cartridge calls for a more progressive powder to develope it's full power.

Many thanks, just having a new barrel fitted and wanting to use cheap projectiles to play around with prior to developing loads with woodleighs, hence the speers.

here are some loads testen in a Lothar walther barrel approx. 26" long.

270 gn speer with ar2209 and fed 215 primers. rws brass.
77 gn 2680 fps
78 gn 2717 fps. note says good safe max.

286 gn swift aframe
72 gn 2508 fps
73 gn 2548 fps
74 gn 2575 fps
75 gn 2614 fps

300 gn swift aframe
70 gn 2455 fps
72 gn just over 2500

72 gns fill my cases sized in simplex fls die to base of neck/ junction of shoulder.

this powder requires some compression for full loads, but this is ok if you work up to it.

too much compression can cause the need to reseat bullets as it can push them back out.

the speer bullet is too soft for big game at these top velocities, but would be good on smaller deer and pigs.

the 300 gn swift at around 2500 is a serious big game bullet that also works on smaller game.

the 286 swift is also a serious big game bullet, and shoots flatter (faster) than the 300 gn.
it actually has a slightly higher b.c.

the 286 gn nosler partition was a disappointment terminally.
the design must be for lower velocities.
when the nose blows off it can completely change direction of penetration.

I would like to try the 286 barnes, but it is so long that too much powder space is wasted to get full potential of the cartridge.

swift are available in oz through brownells, and there is also an aust agent who can supply your local gunshop.
they will outperform Woodleigh without a doubt.

some data shows re 15 as giving good speeds, but be wary. it peaks out very suddenly, so keep well below the red line if using it in case something changes.

you will enjoy the ride with the 9.3x64.

bruce.

Thanks Bruce, mine is an FN98 with the LW barrel as well. Hoping to use the speers for practice and Red Stag in the coming months and eventually loads using woodleigh, swift or Barnes for water buff in the future

Although I can´t help with your powders (I´m using Rottweil R907) I can recommend the 250grs Accubond, which works pretty well in the 9,3x64 with a flat trajectory.

Thanks, definitely on my list to try. Never had accuracy or terminal problems with accubonds

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
Thanks,
Ross
