Hello, I am a 19 year old looking to learn more about this special tradition. My dad is an avid member of the AH community, so I want to follow in his footsteps. I am hoping, as a part of the younger generation, to learn as much as I can to help continue hunting, conserving, and protecting Africa. Last year, I was lucky enough to go to Limpopo for my high school graduation present. It was hands down the most life changing experience I have ever had. White-tail bow hunting dwindles compared to the adrenaline rush of a warthog hunt. I dream about going again someday, but until then I wish to educate myself more on the world of safari hunting and look forward to hearing how the younger generations can help get involved.

Hi Evan, welcome to AH !

Welcome Evan, what part of TN you in?

Welcome aboard Evan. Glad you had fun on your African hunt and that you are looking forward to going back. I'll bet you dad is tickled pink as well. My boys have been hunting with me for over 40 years, it has become a family tradition that is now being passed down to grandsons. There will be many future hunts enjoy each and every one of them.

Welcome to AH Evan. You are so right... Safari does change your life.

Happy to have you here on AH.

Welcome to AH Evan! Nice to have you join the conversation.

Giday Evan and welcome to the A H forums.

Evan, welcome to the forum! Man am I envious of you getting to Africa at such a young age! When I was 19, the cost of a trip to Africa was equal to buying a home! Way out of reach for most of us. I can tell you have some grand experiences in your future! Enjoy your dreams and hopefully they will come true!

Welcome to AH! Africa hunting trips can sure grab ahold of you. Once is never enough.

A big welcome in the AH family. Post reports of your White Tail hunting experience.

Well, pops is thrilled! Evan is in his sophomore year of mechanical engineering(following the footsteps of his old man and older brother). He texted me last night to say he had joined AH, and had read and learned more in the last 24 hours than he could ever explain. He said he now knows why I spend so much time on the porch with a cigar and AH.

Oh no! What have I done? Those grades better not drop or I will have Jerome suspend your account.

We truly did have a fabulous time in Africa last year. Just to be present with my son was worth more than any hunt I have taken, and that is quite a few. As @Shootist43 stated, this is what the hunting life is all about. I am blessed, and so will continue to share those blessings with both my sons until the good Lord calls me home.

Welcome Evan. As I told you, one of the greatest community of hunting enthusiast you could ever assemble. Word!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome Evan. I am from Bristol area. My son only wanted to play baseball at that age. Not much for hunting. When he graduated grad school he decided he would take Dad to Africa. Told me by giving me a lion and elephant in my Christmas stocking (plastic toys). I told him we could not afford that but we would go PG hunting. Wow what a last ten years. We got bird dogs and did pheasant after Africa. Then I wanted a cape buffalo. Did not happen the first time. Went again with my wife and had a good exciting hunt with not a hard boss bull. Then this year son and I went again to Africa. Both took good hard boss bulls and a 40 in sable each and couple other animals. So sometimes things change and us old folks get going with life. So proud we got to spend so much time together and look forward to more!! I am so glad for your Dad-- he has a lot of memories to make and remember as do you. Good luck, take care of Dad and have an exciting life. Smokepole
