Harald Wolf Gunsmith

........and the .458 is bs in his mind

He is not the only one , among others i also doubt the truth of some of his stories about elephant hunting. At times , somethings must have gone wrong. It's not the topic.
That they did :) He eventually abandoned the 7 × 57 mm Mauser in favor of the .318 Westley Richards by 1911 . He himself said that one in three Elephants hit with the Mauser got away

I heard Harald is dead :(

just heard from one of his business partners, that Harald Wolf is alive and kicking.

@Hoss, seems to have made a mistake and I couldn't find anything on the website

Hi. I have a 416 Rigby that was buildt for a Spanish client, commisioned by Tony Sanchez Arino. I had the privilage to hunt on various occasions with Tony. He was a house friend of my Spanish employer. The rifle was buildt for my employers farher in law, when he passed away the rifle went to my employer. In 1999 on a big game hunt in the Caprivi in Namibia the safety broke. The rifle was put in a safe and never looked at again. Eventually the owner asked Tony to take the bolt to Spain after a safari in Namibia atound 2010, to send it to Harald Wolf. From then to now the bolt got lost.
The owner sold the farm in Namibia and now i have this rifle. In the photos of the rifle there is a bolt

in some of the fotos, we just tried a bolt to make sure of the size. As can be seen, the bolt is a std action and to small.
Any one ideas on how to proceed.
Thanx

The picture seems to show the front base for a telescopic sight?

Thanks so much. I ve tried here in Namibia and none of the arms dealers and gunsmiths can help me. Friends are trying their contacts in Europe. Will keep my eyes peeled.
Hopefully 1 day.

I have changed my posting because a detail bothers me , the thumb hole.

As I have already written , I have tried to put the bolt body from a standard Mauser action in the receiver from a Mauser Magnum action and had the same situation as on the pictures.

If it's a Mauser Magnum action , it's not a new action because it does not have a thumb hole. However , there was a pre-war Mauser production of single square actions so called magnum ( or not magnum ? ) systems with thumb holes. They made rifles caliber 416 Rigby with it. As I said , I would look in all cases for a Mauser Magnum bolt body.

Good luck with the search of the matching piece.

I would try and contact Dorleac in Perpignan, France. They are really expert with old Mauser, Brevex etc... they use them to produce their own line of fine rifles.
have a look at their website

Foxi/members, I need some assistance in regards to get in contact with Mr. Harald Wulf to ask him if he has available a drawing of a reamer ( CIP specs ) of the 9.3 x 70 caliber, I really want to build this caliber into a hunting rifle..the people at Pacific Tool/Reamer and gauge company needs a drawing of the reamer so they can make me a duplicate of the reamer /or maybe three live rounds will work as well...then I need to see if I can get a set of re-loading dies as well...I really would appreciate it very much if members can assist me..(y)(y)(y)(y)
