Shootist43Springfield manufactured 30-06 caliber rifles for use by the American Military during World War I. They had a Mauser style action and were commonly available as surplus. Back in the late 1950s they could be purchased for $14.95 and $5.00 shipping and handling. These rifles were very accurate as well as robust and large numbers of them were sporterized for use by hunters.
Yes. The Springfield rifle was the one which killed this leopard. It was loaded with a 220 grain Remington firm soft nose bullet called a core locked or something similar. It worked very well on the leopard. I hope that some one here might identify the other rifle . It was very interesting looking.
