My 1st 375 H&H !

That is a pretty piece and a great buy. It says 1-200. Is yours # 1 or what number are you in the series?

Good question, I don't know. I assumed I bought the very first one but I suppose all 200 could be "1 of 200"

If I truly have the 1st, I suspect someone of importance at Winchester or the SCI probably owned it. Or perhaps SCI auctioned it off.

I may contact Winchester and see what they say. I don't know if some of those details got lost in the company going under. SCI might even know.

Actually it appears all of this special run is labeled 1 of 200 as there was another of these sold in CO. This one came from PA. A little disappointing but oh well...

I just had to share my excitement :E Dancing:

Ever since buying a box of heavily clearanced 375 shells (for no particular reason other than they make me smile every time I open it) I've been looking for a bargain priced "just because" rifle.

I just won (aka bought) an excellent condition Winchester Super Express off gunbroker for $800. It's never had a scope on it as far as I can tell. On the floorplate it is engraved "SCI 25th anniversary 1-200"

I've held one before, it pointed great, and I love the iron sights.

My plan is just to shoot the irons due to the hefty weight. I have taken more game with irons than I have scopes so this will feel right at home.

:E Celebrate:
Congrats on your new rifle! I bought my first .375 in March. I believe you will absolutely love this caliber. Mine still has only express sights on it too.

Congrats

Be careful, the real owner might be looking for this. I’d say that’s a steal even in your dollars.
I recently took possession of a .375H&H, just because and just because it’s a traditional sort of Safari rifle as far as I can tell.
Get ou

Congratulations ! My favorite rifle in my collection is a vintage pre war .375 HH Magnum Winchester Model 70 . Even though l also own a custom ZKK600 action .350 Rigby Magnum and have a fascination for vintage German calibers , the .375 is my Standby through and through and if l end up taking only one rifle to my 2020 Buffalo Safari , it will be my .375 . In the old days of safaris during the golden age , almost every professional Hunter preferred their clients to bring a .375 rather than a .458 to the Safari. Here is a little snippet about the .375 HH Magnum and it's versatility from Guns Magazine 1964

Thanks all

I received it this weekend. Excellent condition aside from a little rust in the barrel and internal action. I suspect the original owner didn't shoot it too much and just oiled the exterior yearly. Rust wiped away very easily though.

Only negative is the 6.5 pound trigger pull. I ordered a mcarbo spring so that will probably take it to 2-3 pounds.

Can't wait to get out and shoot it

Finally got around to shooting it. I did put the mcarbo spring in and it took the 6.5 pound trigger down to exactly 3. I may eventually go back in and see if I can get it up to 4 pounds. When shooting offhand I like to partially squeeze the trigger while managing the sway and then fire it.

Anyway shot it at 50 yards iron sights from the bench and it shoots as good as I can see. Dead on, maybe 1/2" left.

Recoil was not bad at all (9 pound rifle). It really wasn't much more than my 7 3/4 pound 7mm Rem Mag. That was a relief, you don't want a gun you are scared to shoot.

You got a winner. They are about the sweetest thing going.

OK, time to get it scoped, sighted in with 300 grain Swift A-frames, and head for Africa!
There’s some trophies you need to test it on!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

You should be extremely proud. Your Winchester rifle is one of the greatest examples of a magnum .375 in existence . The ones in my time unfortunately did not have the mauser type extracting claw device. It will be excellent as an all round rifle.
