I wanted to get some new pictures of the rifle to add to this thread, but between still trying to get caught up at work, rain, more work, and more rain...oh well - I can add some later!

You guys know the rifle. It is the beauty I just killed my Buffalo with, while hunting in Zimbabwe with Cody, John Sharp and Dave Langerman.

It is a fully sorted rifle. Wayne had the rifle in July to install a new mag box with thinner walls to ensure adequate grip by the action rails on the cases, during vigorous reloads.

Shoots and feeds softs, TSX and Hydros, and can give you Lott performance at very low pressure or essentially 460 Weatherby performance if you want to run those kind of pressures (I don't and didn't!).

I have a lifetime supply of new cases (at least 400, but I'd have to count) and a set of dies.

I also have a set of Alaska Arms low QD rings that likewise, can be purchase with the rifle.

I purchased the rifle at a significant discount from the original asking price, and am going to list the rifle at the price I paid, $4,800 plus shipping and insurance.

If the buyer of the rifle wants the brass, they are $1 each and the Alaska Arms rings can be had for $100. Dies I will throw in with the rifle, either way.

This rifle has the nicest trigger I have ever had on a hunting rifle. Close as I can measure it is right about 3 pounds and very crisp.

Buyer gets two weeks to shoot the rifle and if unsatisfied, ship it back on your dime in the same condition for a full refund.

I love this rifle and would keep it...but I did promise my wife I would sell it after the hunt to help fund drilling a water well on our place in Ozark County...and I haven't been with her since 1981 by going back on my word!

I want a happy buyer...I do not think anyone will be disappointed!

Here are some pics....recycled from previous threads!

LOP is 13 5/8" (I used a Beartooth neoprene buttstock cover with a 1/4" gel insert to get 14")
Barrel is 23"
Weight un-scoped, un-loaded is 10.5 lbs.

If I left out anything, just ask!

Thanks for looking,

Tim

I will add...shooting 550gr bullets at 2,170fps with 99gr of IMR 4350 was very manageable.

This rifle, due to mass, geometry and pad is very comfortable for the power level. 500gr at 2,100 in this rifle felt about like 400gr at 2,100 in my 450/400 No 1.

Tim,
I hate to see this thread! I love this rifle and guys it is a shooter! If I didn’t already owe Tim money on the last rifle of his that I loved it would be in my safe! A two week shoot before you commit deal? I would bet after you shoot it there is no way it will be sent back!

Here is the day I received it, only one thing I could say WOOD!

wow, thats a beauty! Good luck with your sale

@tarbe Tim, I've got a great idea! I am amazed that you and Cody @Bullthrower338 didn't already think of this. You've got this beautiful DG rifle which you really want to keep (actually Cody wants you to keep it more) and you need a waterwell. You need to do a Jed Clampett and take the 450 Dakota to your Missouri farm (afterall, Missouri loves company ) and shoot a hole into the ground where you want the water well. If you are lucky, you'll have decent water flow. If you are a really good shot, like Jed was, you'll end up striking black gold.......Texas Tea. Then the first thing you'll know is Tim's a millionaire and your kin folks will say "move away from here!"

Oh believe me Dave, I’ve suggested it about 100 times but he keeps insisting that he can’t be using the 450 to be shooting at some food!

Dave - I have to hand it to you...that was very clever!

Bottled water is cheap, keep the rifle, I have sold two AHR modified rifles and kinda wish I wouldn't have.

Nice looking rig, Wayne comes up with some nice English, best of luck on the sale

Sell a kidney, and tell the misses that you sold the rifle?

I say find a few "unused" rifles in your safe to sell for a similar dollar amount. Then, put a synthetic stock on the CZ 458 so your wife doesn't recognize it. You can store the wood stock at Cody's place and bolt it on when you head to the airport for your next safari. There. Problem solved.

The problem solving skills on AH are by far superior to anywhere else in the world!

That is a beautiful rifle, Tim. Anyone should be proud to own it. Good luck with the sale. Or, just to be helpful, I'll let you store it in my gun safe the next time you are headed to Missouri :sneaky:

Tim,

I'm sad to see you sell the rifle as well, but couldn't have more respect for the reason you're selling it!

Someone is getting a heck of a rifle .

Don’t tell Tim but Kathy called me and told me that she really wants Tim to keep it because water is really over rated and she said they can just buy more beer if they are thirsty and bathe with wet ones!

Ladies and Gentlemen...

This rifle has found a new home in the greater Houston area, with a fellow AH'r!

I am thrilled that she has found a good, new home, and that she is slated to head to southern Africa once again, to chase Nyati!

Congratulations to the new owner. I will help in any way I can to make sure the adoption goes smoothly!

Thank heavens!

Just tonight I received an email that a gentleman wants to buy one of my collector shotguns, a Lefever. My first thought was, "Maybe I should use that money to but the CZ 450 Ackley.... It could have rested next to the custom .416 Rem I bought from Tarbe!

Whoever bought this one, congratulations and thanks!!!

Beautiful. ...

I'm the soon to be purchaser and as Tim mentioned the rifle will be headed back to hunt buff in Africa next summer as long as my wife doesn't kill be before then...

The rifle is truly a work of art and function. As others have mentioned before Tim is a stand up guy who I enjoyed talking to about rifles and hunting Africa!

Congrats to you both!
