I highly recommend if you haven’t been to the land of the Kiwi, you should go whether hunting, fishing or sightseeing. Beautiful place! Friendly people!

Agreed. New Zealand is beautiful country, both north and south island. We found all the Kiwis to be very friendly and hospitable while we were there. Hunting there is great too.

New Zealand is very safe and beautiful, Kiwi's very friendly and great trophy quality.

Remember our firearms laws have changed recently. You can still bring your own firearm, but need an NZ licence holder to “sponsor” you a d you need to apply for your visitors firearms licence several months in advance.

Great info to have. That'll make a solo hunt a little more challenge

Anyone on AH successfully get one of the new NZ visas? Firearms permit? Maybe tourism in general and hunting specifically taking a hit there. Best of luck to hunting operators in NZ....FWB

Yes - I was there in July to South Island. My permit was being processed just as they were transitioning over to the system in place now, so had to e-mail the police then redo it all over when they got the direct system in place. Not too bad but just had the hassle of duplicating the process. On arrival they had my approval and confirmation but someone at the station had forgotten to print the official form and it took over 2 hours to get through. missed my connecting flight but as luck would have it my flight was cancelled and so I made the next one. The officer was polite and apologetic, even drove me to the domestic terminal personally. I am sure they have the bugs worked out now. Check out the avatar...

K-Man.........that is an avatahr! great chamois too. Ya, two hours waiting and a missed connector flight sounds like a potentially difficult entry. Happy it worked out well.........I believe administrative challenges to hunting are just getting ramped up in NZ.........thanks for sharing......FWB

Well I took advantage of this one,
Big thanks to Lori for taking care of the flight details.
I'm after tahr chamois and hopefully fallow deer in June.
