As the title says I know you guys have guns you would never sell for any amount of money. I want to hear those story’s why.
This is my top 3. First is absolute favorite firearm, a Winchester model 70 featherweight 30-06 pre 64. I bought it at a local gun auction for $900, when I was 18. I worked for the auction company, so I could put my pay against it, and with what I had saved I could buy it. It was 6 months before I could put a scope on it. I bought the best one I could afford a Leupold VX2 3x9 and a box of 180 grain core locts to sight it in with. It wasn’t long till I had a good accurate load worked up for it. A 180 Speer at 2550. Yeah it’s slow but I could shoot a 1 inch group with it. I’ve always admired pre 64 Winchester’s and the 30-06 is my favorite centerfire, so this is my favorite.
Second is my Mauser 98 7mm made at the obendorf plant for the Chilean military in 34. It was given to me by a man who grew up poor. He’s older than me by 30 years but we are close friends. He bought it from his older brother for 75 dollars, which was his whole paycheck. He said he didn’t eat for a week but he had a Mauser by god! He used this rifle to kill (poach) many deer. We are not short on deer here so the warden would look the other way as he knew it was for food. This man has since bought and sold countless guns and that’s the only one he never sold. He gave it to me this year for Christmas because I would use it and his son didn’t care for guns and would let it rust. He gave it to me on the condition that I would leave it as it is, no restocking it or drilling holes for scope mounting. So it will remain in 100% military condition it entire life. I can shoot soda cans at 100 yard with my pet load and just love the rifle. I dare anyone to find a slicker military Mauser than this one, the bolt is smooth as butter. This rifle means so much to me, because it meant so much to my friend.
Third is my FN FAL I had always wanted one and it took me 18 months to find this one. It is built on an imbel parts kit by DS Arms. It’s not special to anyone but me. And I will never part with it

There’s a few of mine please tell the stories behind your “not for sale” rifles.

The ones that I would not sell are the ones that I inherited. Of the ones that I bought (1) 1972 Browning A5 light 12 (2) SAKO Classic 85 in 308, everything else, I could sell.

Hmm, after thinking about it, I don't think I could sell any.

Witold, I will take all 3 of those!!:D:D:rolleyes:o_O;)

Wyatt, funny you mention the Model 1935 Chilean Mauser. I sort of stumbled on one todayo_O, not physically but listed on the net and thought wow, what a neat rifle and only 10000 made. They bring quite a premium but I love the Mauser Oberndorf markings and the crossed rifles on the receiver, just plain neat!(y)(y) I may have to find one to buy.

My Whitworth carbines in .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, and .30-06 Springfield. Too difficult to find a d teace at the pricez I paid for them. Maybe I could pass the .243 carbine to a niece or nephew that shows an interest in hunting with me.

My .25-06 Remington Interarms Mark X rifle. So far it has done everything I've asked it to do.

My recently new to me Zastava 7X64mm rifle once I have modified / customized it to my tastes / preferences.

The rest I could part with if necessary. Honestly, I expect my heirs to have to pick and choose amongst themselves what firearms they might keep and what the group will choose to sell.

I'm sat here thinking it's kind of cool you guys have guns like this. I don't! I had a couple that I wish I never sold, but I have nothing here that matters to me now apart from an old 8x56 Schmidt and Bender scope that was given to me by the guy who got me into rifle shooting. That will never be sold. I've never been gifted a gun, it's not so easy here.

The gun I most wish I hadn't sold is the Brno .375H&H in my profile picture. Not only did it have the nice little pop up peep sight in the action, but I shot my first ever deer with it too. But I shot that deer in Canada - at the time the police wouldn't let me use it in the UK so although I could have kept the rifle it wouldn't have been used. Before I had it it had done a number of African safaris with a guy who grew too old to use it any more, so he sold it to me. I didn't know him so I couldn't really see it sit in my safe and not be used, I sold it to someone who would enjoy it. It wasn't the sort of rifle that deserved to sit in a cupboard, not after what it had already done.

I'd pay a lot of money to get that rifle back now.

2) My Custom ZKK - 602 in .350 Rigby Magnum
3) My 12 Gauge BRNO over under ZH 301 Shotgun with customized chokes . Gift from Mrs. Delgado
4) My Winchester Model 70 in .375 HH Magnum , pre war Model. My first Proper Rifle gifted by my Grand dad.

There is a rifle which l have sold which l regret to this day. It was my first rifle of all. A Savage Model 99 in .22 Savage Hi Power . I killed over a dozen white tail with it using Neck shots and Norma 71 grain soft points . Back in those days , you could legally hunt Deer with a .22 Centre fire in Maine ( Maybe you still can , l don't know ) . I sold it in 2008 after l almost lost a White Tail buck buck with it by attempting a Heart shot. It was an impulsive sell :( . I would later realize how rare they were. If l ever find one again in good condition , it will be MINE ! :D
My Dad frequently buys and sells off many of hi .30-06 rifles whenever something new hits the market. But he will never sell his Enfield 1917.
My Grandad is Particularly attached to an Old but well Maintained Winchester Model 70 in .416 Remington Magnum.
My Wife has a nice .240 HH Mauser which her dad gifted her which she has never sold in the last 12 years
My father in law swears he will never sell his Belgian Joseph Saive 10 gauge Magnum 3 1/2 inch chamber Double barrelled side by side shotgun

Hi,

Here are mines:

1- DWM (1893 action) ORIGINAL Sporting rifle in 7x57 of course. Feeds and ejects 5 EMPTY cases EVERY TIME. Given to me by my Grand Father, who inherited it from his father...my G.G. Father!!!!!
2-Mauser (Argentine 1935 action made by Mauser-Werke) with a SIG barrel, military replacement for the chilean Mausers. I got that barrel un-used (have another barrel, same, just in case...).
3- Winchester 70 pre-64 .375 H&H made in 1953.
4- BRNO N 2. Made in 1965
5- BRNO ZKK 600 9,3x62 with the peep sight. Made in 1967.
6- FN-AKAH 30-06 (barrel made in Belgium with that proof marks). Made in the sixties.

None of these will be sold.

Best!

Lots of guns I truly regret selling over the years (sold/traded some stuff when I was a younger guy that I either didnt know what its real material value was... or didnt appreciate at the time what its sentimental value was)..

but only a few things in the safe that I wouldnt sell or trade now..

I've got a few customs that I have built myself.. that honestly dont mean a whole lot to me other than the sense of accomplishment of completing the project.. but I hope they will become heirlooms for the kids once I am gone... so I wont ever get rid of them...

And I've got a few antiques that arent really anything special (winchester 1890 gallery gun that was built in 1901, etc).. but I've really enjoyed over the years.. and wont get rid of..

everything else in the safe could go if it needed to.. or if I thought someone else could get better use out of it.. or if I could work in to a decent trade.. etc.. with no sleep lost..

You guys are killing me. What do you mean SELL A FIREARM?? There are several safes full that will stay that way till I croak. I've sold three in my lifetime a PPKS that I couldn't shoot for crap, a Ruger Govt Target 22 and a Ruger Redhawk. My collection will be going to my kids and grandkids.

M-1 Garand that was built by Springfield three months before I was born in 1940. Match grade and deadly.
Winchester model 70 Safari Express in 375 H&H Mag.
Winchester model 70 7mm Rem Mag.
Mossberg M52 22LR that my Dad gave me in 1950. It was my first gun. I worked my two week Christmas vacation and sent my entire $ 14.95 earnings to Sears Roebuck for a J.C. Higgins 4 x scope and mount for it. That was before the days of sales tax and shipping charges.
Not rifles but: Ruger Blackhawk with 9mm, 38 spl and 357 mag cylinders.
S & W 1911 5 inch 45acp.
Sig Sauer P938 9mm.

Everything else is expendable.

Sadly that's not really an option in the UK. I have to keep the number of guns I own to around ten, give or take a couple. Any more than that and the police start to make a fuss - upgraded physical security of the house, monitored alarm system with a yearly fee etc. It's just not worth it unless you're willing to waste good hunting money on a safe full of guns you'll never fire.

njc, could you please revise your post from "guns you will never fire." to guns you will seldom if ever fire, just in case my wife reads your post.:rolleyes:
