Falling block action build along

I've known Bailey for several years. He lives about an hour away. His Wagyu beef that he sells a little of is just great. Bailey is one of the few guys that can do it all, metal work, engraving, and stockwork. He also does his own damascus and makes receivers out of his damascus. Bailey also builds a double falling block rifle.
Can't go wrong with Bailey.

Making more progress on the sidelever actions. Safety is installed and operates smoothly and crisp. It blocks both the sear and trigger.

This action is ready to harden the internal components and polish every surface. It cocks, fires, extractor is timed and stout, safety works and it opens and closes like butter. I'll polish it up and get on to the next action. One at a time at this point

Great thread, thanks for posting this up!

it will be interesting to see the striker mechanism go in.
any detail in haw that setup works would be most appreciated.
the striker was probably the last improvement in the development of the falling block.
bruce.

I will give a detailed overview of the internal components when I harden and polish them. The striker is installed and works great. FAR better than a traditional hammer/ transfer bar/ firing pin setup

Let the polishing begin. Start with files where needed, then stone from 220 to 400 and move to paper up to 400. A little wd-40 for lubricant.

This one is 99% finished. Amazing what a good polish will do. Fully functional and ready to barrel. It will wear a Brux barrel and be chambered for the 6.5x65R cartridge. Very comparable to the 6.5-06 but with a rim. It also has an incredibly beautiful stock blank of curly Turkish walnut selected.

I will make a video that goes through all of the features and operation in the next day or so.

That looks exceptional.

Big fan of falling blocks. I like your implementation of side leaver and striker.

Do you use the same steel for trigger, sear and receiver?

Really beautiful work.

I'm getting more and more interested in this rifle. I'm a lefty and I lke this design better than my Ruger #1. While the lever is right handed I can get used to it. The Ruger has a wall for support on the left side which make loading from that side tough, yours is more ambidextrous. A left side lever would probably have me looking at my finances right now.

I can easily make one with a left handed lever. Will be starting another batch in two weeks. Just say the word....

The action is barreled with a Brux 6.5 chrome molly, chambered in 6.5X65R. It's fully funtional and ready for stocking.
