Hugging the toilet bowl in the middle of my first night at Rockin' G wasn't how I envisioned starting our weekend in Texas, but like Mick says, you can't always get what you want!

@gizmo and any other readers - should I finally get this hunt report written!?!? ;)

Holy smokes!!!! It’s a start.

Stay tuned folks in another 6 months we’ll have another paragraph

Is this finally happening????

YES!

We're going to eat this thing like an elephant. I'll do some today, some tomorrow, some the next and eventually I'll get this done.

Where was I? Oh yes, vomiting at the Rockin' G ...

As I laid there on the floor, I asked myself what the hell happened to me? But I'm getting ahead of myself . . .

Like many of you, Rockin' G first popped up on my radar through this AH forum. This @gizmo guy looked like he had a great place in Texas, and when I posted an inquiry about shopping for a Texas hunt, Erik PM'd me. It took only one conversation for me to know that this was my guy. My friends Chris and Jason were quickly on board as well, and after a few months of planning (and a lot of texting with Erik!), our trip to Rockin' G was here. So here's what happened on DAY 1...

Chris, Jason and I met up at 4:30 AM here in Phoenix for the long drive to Texas. I don't know about all of you, but for me every hunt officially starts when I pull away from my house with a car full of gear, good friends, and a long drive ahead of me. Chris and Jason are two of my best friends, so the 12 hour ride across the deserts, forests and open country of Arizona and New Mexico went by in a flash. Before you know it we were crossing into the Texas Panhandle.

We crossed into Texas just east of Clovis, New Mexico and that terrain was flat. Pancake flat. Perfectly flat. We kept heading east through little towns like Dimmitt, Nazareth, and Tulia. More featureless farms and flatland's. Then, just east of Silverton, the land drops away and a whole different planet appeared as we dropped down through Caprock Canyons State Park on our way to Turkey. About 12 hours after we left Phoenix, we pulled into the Rockin' G Ranch.

Now, a lot of texting went back and forth between our group and Erik in the months and weeks leading up to our arrival. So by the time we arrived, we had gotten to know each other a bit and also all realized that we were going to get along pretty well. There was plenty of ribbing that went back and forth, and when we were greeted at the ranch by Carrie, Bruce, Justin, Erik, Melonie and Chaz, it didn't take long for the jabs to fly and the laughs to start. We all knew immediately we had picked the right place and the right guys (and ladies) to hunt with and we were excited for the coming 4 nights.

We still had some light left, so we hit the range to get our rifles sighted in. I brought along my .300 Win Mag, my .375H&H and a .444 Marlin (for pigs), while Chris had a .308 and a .45-70. Jason rounded out our group with his .308. Everything looked good, and beer in hand we were treated to a spectacular Texas sunset.

Dinner was fantastic, and I went to bed with a nice beer buzz and a full belly. As for the vomiting, I figured out what happened there. About the time I was lying on the bathroom floor I got a text from my wife telling me that my 4-year old son had spent the night throwing up! So my kid was patient zero it appeared. As I waited for the sun to come up on Day 2, I was hoping this would quickly pass! More to come....

Whats funny about that is Justin is a communist and can't stand George Strait. Not sure what went wrong in childhood there as George Strait is one of the greatest there ever was but none the less thats funny you made that comparison.

Can't stand George Strait???? Mods can you ban him immediately. This guy can't be trusted. He is probably leaking all of our pictures to PETA..... Lol

Lmao. While he obviously has poor taste in classic country music he would be the worst PETA member ever considering he’s responsible for guiding 90% of the hunts on my ranch.

George Strait had one good album, his first one. As soon as he started signing about Oceanfront Property and crap like that, DONE with him. All he had to do was stick to good ole’ Honky Tonk music!!!! Now given he probably wouldn’t be a multi billionaire, but he would have stayed true to the music. And no worries on the PETA nonsense. Lord knows I have better ammo than that especially where Gizmo is concerned. All I’m say is Giz thinks he can dance like a rap video girl after a few drinks so don’t let him fool you into thinking his musical taste is classic country. And yeah I have video

While true, I can dance , that goes both ways, I don’t think you want to open Pandora’s Box there buddy.:LOL:

Heck no, we both know that’s off limits lol. While I’m sure the folks on here that haven’t hunted with us might get a good chuckle or two out of us wading into that blood bath, our regulars would be frantically searching the background hoping they aren’t getting caught in the shenanigans unaware! We can settle this like grown men this weekend during the annual dove hunt brother!!!! Dance off or shin kicks your choice!!!

Ooooooh Dance off it’s on!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Honestly I think all of us need to call Hillary and find out how to permanently delete shit off our phones.

I can see this turning into another annual dove hunt weekend butt chewing from Pops!!!!!
