What is the situation for tourists ?
@Vic Falls ,Bulawayo and the National Parks and drives to the huntingblocks ?
An outfitter has cancelled a hunt, got the money for the lion permits and doesn't answer any more.........
If that's what I mean, then I call place and names.
Must also be verified to be completely safe.

@Foxi , I am not quite sure I understand your post. If you are looking for recent firsthand experience in Zim, then @tarbe and @Bullthrower338 are probably homeward bound from a hunt with @John Sharp in southern Zim. I did this same hunt about 4 years ago and was impressed with flying in and out of Bulawayo. Very easy and no hassles.

@.375 Ruger Fan,
thank you for your answer.
I would like to know if it is currently risky to travel the country as a tourist.
More risky than under Mugabe .
Someone is trying to frighten clients in the hope ,that they will cancel (but collect a lot of money in advance).

I travelled to Vic Falls with my wife and kids last year. Despite taking the normal precautions I would in any city or foreign place, we encountered no issues and enjoyed our time there.

Was there last year. Bulawayo and airport nothing out of ordinary. The airport seemed less stressful than when under Mugabe two years prior. The roads south were very busy with old trucks and vans pulling over-loaded flatbeds with goods out of RSA.

Also, a good travel agent should have the latest info on such things.

We have a friend who was recently back in Zimbabwe visiting her siblings. She hasn't mentioned anything more than the normal Zimbabwe stuff that's been going on for a decade.

I know quite a few folks who have gone this year, no issues. I will be there in 1 month and have no concerns. I have been in contact with 3 different PH's throughout the year, and no concerns on their behalf either.

The other part of your question is what is confusing. Are you saying there is an outfitter who is taking deposits for hunts and then he is somehow scaring clients into canceling so he can keep the deposits?

Just got back Saturday from a two month trip. Long fuel ques in Harare. I heard there were long fuel questions in Bulawayo as well. Rolling power cuts, an initial shortage of bread, payment system issues, and switching from the USD to the Zim Bond officially were a few other issues everyone was sorting. I drove across the country, from Harare to the Savé Valley Conservancy, with everyone saying police roadblock stops were MUCH better than they used to be.

That is what it sounds like to me!

Foxi, hope everything works out but it doesn't sound great.

My wife and I went the first week of June to Vic. Was just fine except the usual. Hope everything works out.

This.

That's the way it is.
I'm afraid my two friends have got rid of almost usd 50,000 USD for nothing
If it's a disaster, it's a prosecutor's case, too.
Damaging the state of Zimbabwe by not passing on permit funds is certainly not funny either.
They fly this week, if it becomes again a nightmare and the journey finally to end, I tell the story of this gangster.

It's hard to understand what you are trying to say but I was in Zimbabwe 1 month ago and everything was great.

Going back in April

A little bit is getting lost in translation. I think what Foxi is saying is the outfitter is encouraging his friends to cancel their lion hunt as it would be unsafe and would be keeping their deposit.

Regardless it is a bad way to start a hunt.

Yes, hard to understand exactly but something doesn't smell right. Did the hunters approach the outfitter about cancelling because of rumors they heard or did the outfitter approach the hunters and provide rumors to discourage them from going???

I hope these fellas hunt works out. If not I would really like to hear the details.
The scam needs to be exposed.

Who is trying to frighten clients? There is no problem in Zim if you travel with professionals.
